Shekhar Kapur is yet to divulge the name of the actress of his film Paani, but if reports are to be believed she is the young and talented Ayesha Kapur of the Black fame.
Those who can't recall, Ayesha Kapur was the child artist who played the young Michelle McNally in the award-winning movie Black starring superstar Amitabh Bachchan and the vivacious Rani Mukerji in lead roles. At that time, Ayesha was merely of 10, but impressed all with her acting talent. The actress was also seen in the movie Sikandar (2009).
It's heard that Shekhar Kapur was mighty impressed with the 19-year-old girl's acting skills in her debut film Black and approached her for the lead in Paani. An official confirmation is much awaited now! Meanwhile, the movie has reportedly been delayed yet again and will roll early next year. But, Yash Raj Films the co-producers of the movie have denied it, saying that Paani is all set to start by the year-end.
Set in 2050, Paani tells the story of a time when water, a rare resource, is controlled by international corporations and thirst is used as weapon to control people.
The film starring Sushant Singh Rajput in the lead will be shot in chroma key. Shekhar Kapur says that 70-80 percent will be shot using the technique where a green screen is used in the background.
