National awards

Sunny deol - 2
Shahrukh Khan-0

Forget better, he's not even close to the actor Sunny is. He got gifted the central character, a negative one at that that which is bound to receive more accolades.

Nothing more, nothing less.

Nice topic !!
I believe Darr was created for SRK.. SRK got the biggest ever opportunity and he utilized it SO well !! The characterization was like that only, it never meant to be of a rapist or hardcore villain.. It was about a psycho..
Agree that Sunny's role became a regular supporting character and not the hero.. But like in 2 States krish said, 'Story hero honi chahiye, chaahe usme hero ho ya na ho' .. 😉..

I love that film. SRK was absolutely brilliant but I liked Sunny Deol more. lol Sunny is a highly underrated actor.

Btw, my sister's name is Kiran and you can imagine all the shit she had to deal with growing up. LOL

That is debatable. Sunny is a two time National Award winner and not to be taken lightly and hogging attention depends on type of films, for eg, he would have overshadowed SRK in a film like Damini. I believe narrative makes a lot of difference. This is what I was trying to discuss. Of course SRK was brilliant in Darr but the narrative especially in end is not what a villain gets.

I didn't know about that. What films did he win the awards for? He was really good in Damini and I adored him in Vishwatama. lol

I like Sunny a lot for being a supportive and protective boyfriend and husband in that film. Any other boy would abandon a girl calling her musibat or panauti but he does not. He never doubts her either (that if guy is obsessed this much then she must have done something to attract him or had an affair).

But he looks much older opposite Juhi compared to SRK and the way his role comes out in end, he is just left looking like an aggressive man.

On first viewing only SRK catches attention. Whereas you have to think about qualities of Sunny's character in retrospect to appreciate him.

Compared to SRK, yes he does. Have you seen the Sunny-Juhi starrer Lootere? They were really good in that and complimented each other.
