'I quit' is one of the most heard and feared two
liner that lead
actors of GECs can say to
production houses/channels
and fans.
While this isn't a recent
phenomenon and is happening
for over years, from Amar
Upadhyay's quitting Kyunkii
Saas... or recent one being Vivian
Dsena's quit from Madhubala
and Karan Singh Grover's
quitting Qubool Hai but the faces
of the show giving up on their
signature roles is always cause
for heartbreak and a sizeable
dip in viewership figures.
In fact much like the screen
drama, there's loads of spice in
the 'I quit' stories of tellytown
too! Most quitting stars sound a
familiar parting note after they
put in their papers: they have
always claimed to be taking a
'break', having 'creative
differences' and always
reassured fans that their love is
all important. Here's taking a
look at TV's most talked about
'quitting stars.'
Ram Kapoor
WHO: Ram Kapoor's portrayal of
the overweight biz tycoon in
Bade Achche Laggte Hai
redefined the 10.30 pm slot for
its broadcaster for three years.
RUMOUR HAS IT: And then
rumours of Ram quitting the
show started surfacing on and
off. Everytime Ram would take a
break to complete his Bollywood
assignments, adjustments would
be made to the script. Until he
officially announced his final
'break' from BALH this June.
FINAL STATUS: BALH was
unceremoniously pulled off air
last week. Ram continues to
pursue his movie career.
