Can a heart control what is feels?

Posted: 9 years ago
sigh.. today watching the episode that was what I was thinking.. We can draw lines, circles, fences, walls and even barracks.. but however much we try, can our hearts always put a full stop to the deepest yearnings in our hearts? I don't think so..

Paro... she smiles for the first time after the hurt she got when her fairytale world collapsed when Suneri reminded of a childhood tale of a princess, whose life was fraught with tragedy.. yet who finally attained her prince and lived happily ever after..
Her own fairytale was shattered the previous night.. but that treacherous organ called the heart cannot stop yearning for that illusive fairytale ending.. if not for the fairytale journey..

Earlier she was very sure that he was hers.. that divinity has united the 2 of them.. but now knowing he was very much human.. that the relationship they have is very much human.. her certainty is gone.. in its place is a yearning.. for that perfection that she thought she had.. and what she hopes one day might be hers.. just maybe.. she isn't sure..not now.. not anymore.. but can she make her heart stop praying? nope.. she cannot..

And she becomes the sensible Paro who deals with practicalities.. and her gentle care shines through as she helps him with small tasks, takes care of him..
And while doing so, she gets small indications of his softening towards her.. a tiny brick of the wall around her heart which she used to keep the hope at bay falls away.. leaving a crack for hope to seep in..
just a tiny bit..

And then.. when she realizes that he brought her the puppet show to see a smile on her face, she was exultant.. and a sweet smile escaped her lips.. and seeing his reaction to it, her heart skipped a beat.. why was her major saab so happy that she is happy? why is he so worried that she is sad and is ready to do anything to make her happy? why... this is the question in her heart..
the treacherous heart is teased with more hope as the crack around it widens allowing hope to reach it..

And then.. as she sits down, Laila feeds a bit of poison.. and this time poison is not in comparison.. just that Rudra is not likely to come, simply pointing at his 'hearless/jallad' personality. WHICH is what Paro knows that led him to have a soulless mindless tumble in bed.. carnal flesh based relationship.. WHICH is what she fears.. not that he may need Laila back.. but that he is still the same, and might not have any feelings invested in their marriage..

And when she sees him, she is relived.. not because he came for her when he didn't come for Laila. But because, he is changing.. he is showing he has a heart to care.. he is not a stone..

And she escapes in to a world of dreams with him.. losing herself in it..only to subconsciously feel the stab from Laila.. she is shaken and is brought back to earth..

And as her eyes cloud up in pain, glistening big fat tears brim over.. which results in him putting a stop to the puppet show, cz he thought it was the story of the puppets that were making her cry..
And when she realizes that for her tears, he stopped the show.. she slips.. cz he has been gently stripping away one defence after the other that was guarding her heart against hope..

And Paro forgets about everything else as she lets her treacherous heart to lead her to ask those questions.. not to demand anything from him.. but to gently wonder aloud what she feels. what she is scared of..
and that past she asks him about.. its not just the past with Laila. But that past which led him to Laila. which led him to be inhuman.. a jallad..

she is asking him whether he is ready to free his heart from the demons from the childhood as well as wuth Laila where due to his mother leaving him he became an animal that didn't have emotions..and which led him to Laila..
She is asking him if he is ready to feel again..

She is not asking for a fairytale this time.. just asking her raja whether he will ever manage to stop letting the past to control his present and future with his rani.. or if this fairytale is that.. where the rani leaves the raja and goes away..

this rani has forgotten for a moment in her grief that the Rani will have to leave her Raja whether he loves her or not.. only for his sake..
but then that is so human.. it was the previous night when all her fairylike dreams shattered and left with her brutal reality..
And within the day Rudra's actions, sweet behaviour towards her is making her hope that he just might be ready to give her his heart.. its his own actions that changes her from being completely given up to slightly hopeful.. and she is human enough to worry.. to let insecurity touch her for moments when the puppet dance seemed to remind her things that she didn't want to..

Somehow it was an episode filled with emotions.. volatile, yearnings of both Paro and Rudra.. which culminated with her despite all her earlier good intentions asking him again whether he would want to be hers.. and an episode where forgetting all his previous vows he himself at one point tells her that the Raja would prefer to fight and bring his heart back!!

Beautifully written. Yes, Paro's perspective is all muddled up and is getting everyone mad, but I am happy that she's at least feeling something besides blindly loving and having faith in Rudra.

She's clearly insecure and wants those 3 words from him that will get her confidence back up. She's a woman who feels unimportant in her husband's life because she was repeatedly told so by him (hello, wedding vows), but then his actions of care and love contradict all that he told her. Then she realizes that he had intimate relations with another woman, irrespective of no rishta or love between him and Laila. He spent 8 years with her and had no feelings for her. He is married to Paro but told her in an episode from 2 weeks ago that he can never love her... but then does all these gestures of love for her. Paro is one confused soul.

I feel for both Rudra and Paro. Two majorly flawed characters battling their demons, yet are deeply in love with each other. There really are so many layers to these characters, even layers that so many of us cannot fathom.

Sunara I posted this earlier...just pasting.
Paro is caught between her head and her heart, both giving her conflicting signals.

Paro doesn't blame Rudra   for his past.
She has emotionally hit rock bottom since the show started. .
She was never insecure even in the hate marriage because she was sure of her love and faith.
She was seeing small acts of care from him, she saw him smile, change.
With Laila's entry she is highly insecure, not about Laila but about herself.
She is angry at herself, feeling humiliated, sad.
She is so shaken that the promise to Bholenath does not even figure.
The core of her belief system is shaken and for the first time her faith is not giving her answers.
So she is turning to the object of her being, Rudra.
She want answers from him to help her, guide her.
She can handle Laila but not her own questions and doubts, which will not go away even if Laila does.
Laila is inconsequential and insignificant in her scheme of things right now.

Paro has been Rudra's strength when he was at his lowest point, when he lost his job and his mother's abandonment was coming back to haunt him. She held him , told him it would be ok.
She took responsibility to get his job restored.
Today Paro is at her lowest point. She is insecure, jealous, scared, and feeling humiliated.
It's now Rudra's turn to step in for her not just in action and through his eyes, but also through his words. She needs his assurance. Actions are important, but for a woman words are just as important...especially when the woman in question is hurting and insecure.

Paro restored Rudra's dignity and honor once
Today it's Rudra's turn to restore Paro's heart.

All she wants from the man she loves is his shoulder and for him to say he is with her and that all will be ok. She is not looking for an "I love you", but a reassurance that the marriage and her are important to him. He is the only one she trusts!!

Lovely post Sunara. 😊

@red - till now many had an issue that Paro was not reacting enough! She was too divinely inclined and doesn't have human emotions!! And when her dream world shatters and she shows those very human reactions then also some have a problem with it!

Paro is not right! She is just being human!
A girl trying hard to not be jealous, but a wife who cannot help but feel a little insecure, a young girl in the threshold of love for the first time in her life.. but she just might lose it all too.. and she yearns to be loved.. she tries to not be petty..and put some1's life at risk.. but she she still feels tendrils of jealousy and worries.. she is confused..

and if this set of feelings are not enough to leave any human being totally muddled up, I wonder what would be needed!
And for a muddled Paro who is utterly confused and conflicted b/w her heart and her mind is reacting sensibly one second and emotionally the next second..
And for me its justified as a reaction. Nothing too saintly.. cz while her innate goodness makes her do the right thing, her own wants, and hopes makes her be a little selfish too..
and I like this..

Nice post Sunara.
Paro  in love. Even I'm wondering people complained she was not feeling like human when now she's feeling like regular human in love people still complaining.😲
Occasionally people need assurance that they need each other.
Paro was there when he needs her now it's Rudra's turn.

So beautifully explained!  I could fully understand and connect with Paro after reading your post. thanks for it. For the first time I felt she was conflicting in her actions and her words. But your explanation shows that it is not a conflict. But the problem itself is not about him but it is her own problem and needs his support to overcome it...
the whole mirror image thingy happening again
