His palms sweat as he parked the car in the driveway of his house, their house. He took a deep breath and picked up the large bouquet of roses and the box of chocolates from the passenger seat and got out of his car, reaching the front door of the huge bungalow.
He was dressed in her favourite suit and held her favourite white roses is his right hand and had a box of her favourite chocolates in his left. Breathe. He told himself. It's just one question. Stop being such a coward. She will say yes. Will she? Of course she will, he told himself.
He slowly opened the door to their house and tip toed inside. She was nowhere to be seen. He turned around, he was sure she was reading, and as expected when he walked into the diwaan and saw her reading some book to cure her boredom.
He stared at her for a moment or two. He still had time, he could back down right now. What if she said no? What would he do then?
Just as he was about to escape, he tripped over something and was about to fall when he regained his balance. Kriya's head shot up and she looked at her husband. She immediately stood up to help him.
"Rey! What's going on?" She asked him.
One question. Just one simple question, right? One question could change his life forever.
"Uh... Kriya." He said.
"Yes." She replied looking at him intently.
"Uh... Umm.. Honey." He called.
Okay, Rey never calls me honey. Kriya thought.
"Rey?"
He kneeled in front of her and said in one go.
"Please, let me have the right side of the bed."
