Bhanujeet, soap land's latest hunk
The child like innocence of Dolly 'Saroj' Sohi shines brightly in her incessant laughter and twinkling eyes. Here she talks to Kaajal about how she believes in the Ishtar philosophy of Positivity and her views on the deeper meanings of life.
I believe I relate to spirituality in some kind. There is a definite power at work above us and I believe that we in turn have to work to respect this. Work is spirituality for me.
No, I do not consciously meditate in the conventional sense but I do my pooja religiously and follow the teachings of Guru Govind Ji. I also believe that in the power of gem stones. I have worn a stone that my mom has made me wear and it has suited me. I believe that this stone has played a part in where I am today. It is now a part of my life and I am attached to it. As far as meditation is concerned, I spend my free time sleeping and it's the best form of meditation [Laughs]
Attachment is the root cause of depression and there are times when I do get depressed if I am attached to someone. At such times it is difficult for me to be balance my emotions. If I feel guilt about anything, the best approach is to talk to the person concerned.
Anger is one emotion where you should help me Kaajal, There are times when I feel angry inside but it remains there. I am unable to remove it out of my system and eventually hurt myself in the bargain. I do talk to myself and I think that this self-talk does help to curb the anger. I do not open up and trust people very fast and as I trust you completely you should guide me on this.
We are in the trade wherein we have to emote as per the requirement of the script irrespective of the mood we are in; I pay total attention at my work and control my mind during work. There I am in full control of my mind.
I think I hide things in my heart. I can't hurt any one and so I keep my feelings to myself. I can't forgive and I feel irritated by this and I feel I have to learn to forgive better. This trait is connected to anger and you can teach me how to let go.
I can't heal my own traumas without family support and I feel that anyone in trauma should visit people like you who are qualified to guide us and make us come out of it. Our mental peace decides our destinies.
I don't back bite or react to negativity. I just ignore people who are negative. I don't get jealous and appreciate others work. Laughter is the best medicine that nature has given us and I use it liberally. [Smiles]
I do not think of this in the terms of equality but I definitely believe that though women are independent and confident their families still worry more of how the girl will survive in a male dominated work place. Women are emotionally stronger and definitely not weak even if they choose to remain silent.
Marriage and kids will take top priority in the future. I am getting married on 4th March in Canada and will strive to maintain an equilibrium between marriage and my work. I understand that for a healthy marital life Practical and emotional levels have to be well balanced.
When I started my career I was less confident. But I truly believe that it is my faith that has brought me here. I dream and visualize that I am successful and I dream what I want. I understand the power of the mind and visualize a lot. I feel that it is the best approach in life.
When I first arrived, people said lot of bad thing about me. I did not pay much attention to this as I knew my potential and I was positive of myself. Have a strong belief in yourself, do your own, be confident and the Divine will definitely open your way.
Be positive, be confident. Kaajal, I think I follow your mantra. "Positive people are indeed successful."

Rucha Gujrati
Rucha Gujarathi, better known as Kali, a spoilt brat in Kkusum, knows the secret to compatibility. For her, a relationship makes no sense without love, trust and understanding. | |||
A relationship without lust will not survive |
|||
Love is very essential for a perfect relationship. If you don't love, you would not trust, you will never be compatible and without this a relationship doesn't make sense. Love is very important because if you are not bonded together then a relationship wouldn't work. You need to be very much comfortable with each other. There are many words attached to the word 'love' like trust, understanding, empathy, attraction. When you love, you have to accept all the emotions attached to it. A relationship without lust will not survive. You have to be attracted to that person to remain bonded well, so that the relationship keeps moving. I think, lust is as important as love. Jealousy should be kept out of a relationship. It should always be 'we' and not 'I'. If you are in a relationship for years and still feel jealous, that means you are insecure. Your understanding level has to be high. Otherwise, you'll start feeling jealous even when your partner talks to a friend.
You start getting aggressive in a relationship whenever there is friction. At such times, its best to remain calm and try not to argue. But yes, if the situation gets worse and leads to verbal and physical abuse, then you need to call it off because you cannot let someone treat you badly even if it's your husband or your boyfriend. It is very essential in a relationship. The other word for love is passion. When you love someone, you are passionate about him. And if you are passionate about someone, then you would go out of your way and do things that you wouldn't otherwise do. |
Diwali memories
RAKSHANDA KHAN
? Diwali reminds me of those 20-day holiday in school. We used to have a party and loads of fun in school. As a child, I used to buy new clothes and a lot of crackers and would love bursting them. Ramzan and Diwali are at the same time this year. I would not be celebrating Diwali since Ramzan is around the same time. I would not buy any new clothes, but I would buy lots of diyas. I love gifting people on this occasion, so I will gift ethnic thaalis with flowers and crackers, diyas and mithais.
VIKAS SETHI
? Diwali to me means a lot of fun. I don?t burn crackers though. It?s the time to be with my family. Years ago I hurt my hand once while lighting an anaar, so I?ve been extra careful after that. I would gift a lot of blessings and love to all. I am extremely bad at gifting because it?s difficult for me to choose what to gift.
RIVA BUBBER
? As a kid, I used to love crackers and Diwali parties but now I get irritated with the children in my building bursting crackers.
TASSNIM
? Diwali is a festival of lights and a lot of joy. My mother is a Hindu so I have always celebrated Diwali with her as well as my maternal relatives. I do the Laxmi Puja on the day. I have spent all my Diwalis with my cousins including my only cousin brother. But five years ago I lost my cousin. I miss him a lot as I would fight with him for crackers and he would beat me up. All in all, we had good fun.
IQBAL KHAN
? One Diwali, we were not given a holiday in school. I was in the boarding then. I sneaked out with a few friends and went out. Later I was caught and punished.
Urvashi Dholakia
? Diwali is a completely family celebration time. It?s a festival of lights. My Diwali is always simple. I will begin with a Puja and then burst some crackers. One Diwali that brings a smile to my face is when I was 10 years of age. I had an eye operation done. Inspite of having one eye shut with bandage, I was determined and adamant to go and play with crackers! I love bursting crackers even now.
RUCHA GUJRATHI
? Diwali is the festival of lights and lots of fun and colours. It is one festival where everybody gets together to meet relatives and friends. It is a festival of joy and happiness. I usually go with my parents to my grandfather?s house in Nasik for Diwali. We spend 3-4 days with dadaji for Diwali. We usually gift each other sweets, mithai or chocolates.
SANGEETA GHOSH
? Diwali to me is the time for celebration; it?s the time for fun and happiness. It?s the time for new clothes, time to make rangolis, light diyas and celebrate. I would love to gift different people different things. Usually my mom takes care of this department. I remember bursting silent crackers; those that do not make much sound. I have burnt my dupatta once so that has made me become more careful.
ROHIT ROY
? Diwali means a lot of revelry, fireworks and breaking my diet. I would make a silent prayer to take care of my family. I don?t shop. Mansi shops for me. Diwali reminds me of the times when I would burst crackers with my dad. Unfortunately, he is no more.
