Actor Uday Kiran has allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself at his residence in Srinagar colony, Hyderabad on 5th January.
The 33-year-old actor reportedly hanged himself from the ceiling fan in one of the bedrooms in his flat. He had called his friends before he could end his life and said to them about his suicide tendency and cut the line. When his friends called him back on his mobile phone he did not answer. Worried, they reached the flat and immediately rushed the actor to the nearby Apollo hospital where he was declared dead on arrival.
Police sources said that the incident happened at around 12:15 AM and no suicide note was found. The body has been sent to Gandhi Hospital for postmortem.
"He had been depressed for some time due to personal issues. Also, his career had deteriorated in recent years", sources close to the actor said.
A case of unnatural death has been registered and further probe is underway to ascertain the reason behind Uday Kiran taking the extreme step, police sources said.
Uday Kiran made his Tollywood film debut in 2000 with the film Chitram directed by Teja. He went on to earn the title of Hat-trick Hero' with his subsequent back to back blockbusters Nuvvu Nenu' and Manasantha Nuvve'. He also won the Filmfare Best actor award for Nuvvu Nenu movie.
But his film career started deteriorating after he called off his marriage with Mega Star Chiranjeevi's elder daughter, Sushmita after the much-publicised engagement in 2003 and dreaded the wrath of Chiranjeevi's family. Since then he had been facing a virtual unofficial boycott' by the directors and producers of Tollywood.
Uday has acted in nearly 16 Telugu films and his last film Jai Sriram released on April 2013 did not fare well at the box office. He made his Tamil film debut in 2006 through Poi' directed by K Balachander. Also he had starred in Vambu Sandai and Pen Singam.
Uday Kiran is leaving behind his young wife Vishitha in the lurch.
