I think he provided good entertainment. How long would we have been able to watch a Bigg Boss without fights? If you look at his introductory interview clip on the BB7 site, he clearly says that he is going to put up a good show with emotion, fights and all. I do think that his chillum-chilli was partly an act and partly his nature. The first glimpse we got of that was during the Sangram and Apurva mohawk haircut episode. The fight appeared to be in earnest until it was suddenly defused, that's when it came out that it was just an act to instigate Sangram.
Without an Armaan to target as the villain, Kushal, Ajaz, Sofia... for that matter, half the house, would have been rebels without a cause. As far as ill behavior goes, many competitors from previous episodes such as Sky, Dolly were much more uncouth and disrespectful than Armaan has been.
