Found it ! Eureka ! Eureka !..."Pandu " is a synonym for "Kshatriya / ruler ".Just verified it from Amarakosha, the ancient Sanskrit thesaurus. This name appears in the Second Khanda, Varga 7.Folks, congratulate me- it is not easy to search from some thousands of words w/o hyperlinks... 😆Cool-n-fresh, epiphany- you have your answer here.
You have an online version of Amarakosha? Whereizzzit?
Thanks for the links, but I am aware of them. They are only in pdf or html format- just as good as a book.

They were all... and they all had sons... no wonder, the Kaurava army comprised of 11 Akshauhinis...But the no of sons they would have had pales out compared to Krishna's children...

what was the necessity of gandhari's becomring blind for the rest of her life(its also like an oath only)?? what purpose did it serve??
she could have rather helped dhritarastra better in ruling the empire.
When Shantanu approached Matsyagandha's (that was Satyavati's name before marriage) father, it was Matsya's father who put the precondition that his daughter's sons should be the future rulers of Hastinapura. However, earlier on, when Sage Parashara wanted to have relations with Matsyagandha, she herself asked the Sage to ensure that should a son be born of their union, he should be wise, intelligent, and as learned as Parashara himslef. She also asks that should not be blamed for having a child out of wedlock- not should the child be branded as illegitimate. Parashara assures her that he will return and assume the responsibility of their son.I haven't seen the promo- so I am not sure if Satyavati (or Matsyagandha- as she would have been called at that time) is talking to Shantanu or Parashara
