*Peeks over edge of sofa waiting for shoes to fly her way* OH HELLO
THERE! I am back? Haha, sorry for the coughmonthandahalfcough delay. I was
busy, school is killing me. Anywho, my exam schedule was crazy, I had two exams
on a Saturday, on my birthday, while all of Southern Ontario was in the middle
of the snowstorm! See, you should feel sorry for me and forgive me. Anyways, I
present to you the next chapter, I am not in my zone yet so it may not be
fabulous, sorry again. I will try to update and finish this story within the
next two weeks but I am in Chicago right now, and my future mother-in-law to be
will probably poison my food, so if I don't update again in the next few days,
you know who killed me. Haha. I wish I was kidding, but I am not even sure
right now. Sigh, I love writing down my weird thoughts, I should write a diary.
ANYWAYS. On to the story!
Recap: Our two couples have been up to some...interesting
shenanigans since coming to New York, you know sight-seeing, chilling and the
normal stuff. Well normal apart from some crazy columnist/bloggist, aka Sheetal
Kapoor, out for vengeance with her article about Zoya's habit of "cheating" and
her impending engagement to her bff, aka our favourite Rehan Malik. The rumour
is obviously not true, the duo sorted it out and are not headed to get married
which makes Asad very happy and he starts liking Rehan.
But sadly, our Rehan can't have Asad's love and is only worthy of
his glares for liking his younger sister, Nikhat Ahmed Khan. I think Rehan
missed the part of the bro code that says sisters of friends are off limit. Our very newest couple is flirting which makes
Asad mad, and his anger (well frustration) reaches new heights after he finds
out that NK and Najma are a thing. Sigh, the pains of being an older brother.
NK missed out on that chapter of the bro code too.
Poor Asad. If he didn't have enough to worry about there, he is on
his way to meet Zoya's Aapi and Jiju. The latter loves Asad like his own son,
but the former isn't too happy with his old profession that she thinks he will
go running back to, why? Because her hubby, aka Anwar, is a spy/agent himself
and she's spent enough nights worrying about him. So Asad's apprehension
seems...valid. OH OH OH, and Asad & Zoya had sex, I thought I'd say it just
in case you forgot. Haha. Kay, I am done.
Our second couple didn't have sex. A moment of silence for Arnav and
Khushi's level of sexual frustration. Anyways, Khushi is not ready for this
step and Arnav understands, so they just flirt all the time and make sexual
innuendos. All is well in Khushi-Arnav Land. They are putting the final touches
on Khushi's designs, and a team is waiting for them at AR Fashion to make the
designs a reality, so they'll be heading off to India. And that was a
sexylicious recap, sadly, I am forgetting what I wrote in my own story. Sigh. I
need to get like a story board and write down key events. But ain't nobody got
time for that! Now onto somethings mentioned in this chapter (because I like pictures). Haha.
The Event Venue:
Zoya's Dress + Asad's Gift:
A hostage situation, easy. Being held at gunpoint, boring. Scaling
buildings, mediocre. Meeting the parents, terrifying. It was weird how much
fear a 5'4 woman could evoke in me. But she managed to, Zeenat Farooqui hated,
er, disliked me and here I was going to her house for dinner. It's like I was
an innocent deer being launched into a lion's cage. I've never had to meet a girl's
parents before, because lets face it, there was no one before Zoya, so I had no
idea how this stuff worked.
"Relax! She is not going to eat you." Zoya laughed getting out of
the car with a present in her hand. She had come home with a beautiful wallet
that her Aapi had her eyes on for a while. I got Aapi flowers, yellow tulips,
apparently her favourite. I was trying to soften the lioness, did lions like
the colour yellow?
"Easy for you to say." I murmured.
"I can hear you." She laughed. "Aapi doesn't hate you, she just
doesn't know if you are right for me. Two minutes in our company will prove to her
"For sure?" I asked hoping she was right, I was pretty sure the
woman would try to poison me and get Zoya married off to Rehan.
"For sure, for sure." She smiled, her dimples appearing. She was so
beautiful. Especially in the red shirt she was wearing, the colour looked
amazing against her skin. "Just keep your hands to yourself." She teased.
"I was planning to, I am more worried about where your hands will
be." I teased, she had an interesting habit of running her hands over my chest
and stomach. I didn't mind it at all, but her aapi may not be happy with it. And
aapi needs to be happy.
"Wherever you want them to be." She said waggling her eyebrows.
"Stop being tempting." I laughed nervously. Not the right time to
act cutely seductive.
"Let's go." She said grabbing my hand and leading me towards the
door of the beautiful house. It was already dark outside but the plethora of
glass windows created a nice glow around the house. Zoya walked up to the door
and reached over to the lock and punched in the code. She let out a sigh when
the door opened. "JIJU! I thought I told you to change the code every month."
She yelled as soon as she opened the door.
A laughing Anwar approached the door and smiled at us. "Why can't
you ever ring the bell and say hello like a normal person Zoya?" He laughed.
"Nice to see you again Asad." He said holding out his hand, I shook it smiling;
glad that of her family liked me.
"Nice to see you too."
"Allah Miyah! What's wrong with you guys? You should hug, you are
practically family." Zoya laughed rolling her eyes.
"YA ALLAH! TUM DONO NAI SHAADI BHI KARLI!" Zeenat Aapi's voice came
from behind Anwar. She stood their wide-eyed, her hair perfectly straight as
usual and a shocked expression on her face. It was quite comical and I would
have laughed if I wasn't so afraid of her opinion about me.
"Nahi Aapi. Chill, I was just saying that they already know each
other and now he's my boyfriend."
"Yeh ladki." Zeenat sighed finally looking over at me. I smiled at
her, but I am sure it came out as a grimace. Her eyes went from my face to my
hands and then back up, an expecting look on her face. I was quite confused
until Zoya elbowed me and pointed to the flowers in my hand with her eyes. OH!
Stupid Stupid Asad.
"These are for you." I said handing them to Aapi. "Thank you for
having me for dinner."
"Thank you, these are lovely." She smiled before turning around and
walking towards the kitchen. This was good right, she said thank you and she
smiled. And she liked the flowers.
"That's her code for follow me to the kitchen kids'." Anwar
"And you are included in the kids?" I teased, we'd always been quite
"Of course. Women always treat their husbands like kids, just you
wait." He laughed again.
"I can hear you!" Aapi's voice came from the kitchen.
"So that's where she gets it from." I said looking at Zoya who stuck
her tongue out causing Anwar to let out a chuckle.
"What's for dinner sexy?" Zoya asked as we stepped into the large
kitchen, with the dining table on the right.
"Biryani, Shahi Paneer and Roti."
"Oh my god, my favourites." Zoya squealed. Interesting.
"You should learn how to make them." Aapi said.
"Arre Aapi, aap phir sai. I'll learn to cook when I want to. Google
is my bff." She smiled sitting on the dining table motioning me to sit on the
seat next to her with her eyes.
"Yeh kaam Google sai nahi sikhe jaate." Aapi said. "Asad do you know
how to cook?"
"Jee." I nodded. "Living on your own teaches you."
"Hmmm." She nodded. Was that an approving nod? Or a disapproving
nod? Allah Miyah! Wait, did I just think Allah Miyah'. I need a psychologist.
"It smells so good." Zoya smiled picking up the serving spoon and dumped
biryani into my plate. "Aapi makes the best biryani in the world." I smiled as
everyone piled their plates and then awkwardness ensued. It was so quiet that I
could hear the refrigerator humming. I looked over at Zoya who was busy
stuffing her face and then at Anwar who was quietly eating, his eyes darting to
Zeenat every few seconds, almost as if he was waiting for an explosion. His
eyes met mine and he gave me a reassuring look, what was happening in this
house? Anwar's eyes grew wide when Zeenat Aapi cleared her throat.
"I read a very...interesting article the other day." She said
nonchalantly. But I knew what article she was referring to. And the pictures
that came with the article, although cute, had my face an inch away from
Zoya's, I didn't know how she felt about that.
"Acha?" Zoya said chewing on her food slowly.
"Ya Allah! Drinking obsession? Stripper fetish? And this? How do I
not know about this?" It was like a switch turned on and the words poured out
of her mouth.
"Because it isn't true Aapi, you know Sheetal Kapoor hates me."
"Well, the pictures were clearly of you two. Do you even know how
many phone calls I've received? We are the laughing stock of everyone, here I
was announcing your engagement to Rehan and all of this happened. Did you not
think of warning me when you came over with Rehan?" Aapi's voice escalated with
"Yes, the pictures were of us. And frankly, I don't care that they
were on the cover, I think they are quite cute. And secondly, you didn't really
think of asking me before announcing the engagement. And I obviously didn't
know that the bi- Sheetal- was going to release the article." Zoya said looking
right at her Aapi, her food forgotten.
"You don't understand the situation here Zoya, you are being made
out to be characterless."
"Let people talk, I don't care. The people who we actually care
about know the truth and that is all that matters."
"And what is this about Khushi? When did she quit her job and what
is this about the other guy?"
"You've met Arnav, and she quit before she went to India, not
because of Arnav. She's launching her own line under AR Fashion, which Arnav
owns, and they are both heading to India tomorrow to get things together." Zoya
explained. The back and forth continued and continued as Anwar and I sat there
"Does Dimple know about this?"
"And what about you two? How is this going to work? You live here,
he lives in India. This is why-"
"Tell her your plan Asad." Zoya said looking at me, my eyes widened
as I swallowed my food.
"Well, we've decided to spend half the year in New York and the
other half in India. Zoya says she can work from anywhere and usually doesn't
need to be present in person and I can expand the company westward."
"Smart right? I work on a case to case basis anyway. With
holographic communication checked off the list, I am mostly going to be working
on hacking security systems to make sure they are fine and I don't need
anything other than the software and my laptop." Zoya added.
"And you are sure you'll be able to live in India? It is very
different from New York Zoya, going on a trip and actually settling there are
two very different things."
"I am sure. I actually loved it there Aapi. Plus, Asad's family is
"You will not be living with him!" Zeenat exclaimed.
"Zeenat, wouldn't you rather she live around his family than alone
somewhere? It's safer." Anwar piped in winking at Zoya and Asad.
"Hmm." Zeenat said and then turned her eyes onto me. I guess it was
my turn to be under the spotlight. "You have a job other than the agency?" She
"Yes, I am licensed architect and I have a MBA." I said. "I have my
own construction company in Bhopal and Delhi."
"What is to say that you won't go back to your old job? It's
apparently a hard one to get way from." She said glaring at Anwar who
"I am done with it now, it was either the job or Zoya and I chose
the one I couldn't live without." I said truthfully. I swear I saw her lips
pull up at the corner, just a little bit.
"Hmmm." Zeenat said picking up her spoon and resuming eating. I
looked over at Zoya who smiled, apparently we were past the interrogation
phase. The rest of the evening passed quite uneventfully, for which I was glad.
Zeenat Aapi wasn't in love with me, but she was cordial, which I was okay with.
The conversation revolved around Khushi's impending departure, Rehan's parent's
wedding anniversary and our impending departure to India.
As we left the house Zeenat Aapi smiled at me and asked me to take
care of Zoya, I think she'll eventually warm up to me. Score!
"I can't believe you guys are leaving already." I pouted as we stood
in the middle of the airport, Arnav and Khushi had already cleared customs and
were now waiting for their flight, which was delayed. Obviously. So Arnav stood
behind Khushi, his arms wrapped around her waist and his chin on her shoulder.
They were so sweet!
"You could come with us." Khushi pointed out laughing.
"I have to attend the party! I have to get back at a certain
journalist. And the press statement is being released tomorrow." I winked.
"It's not going to be the same without you though." I pouted.
"I know, I can't believe I am missing it. Asad! After she spills
wine on Sheetal, say Oops, she is a clutz isn't she?' and then laugh okay?"
Khushi said looking at Asad who just looked confused as Arnav laughed.
"Okay?" Asad shrugged.
"We'll be arriving on the 10th, I'll text you the
details." Asad said to Arnav who nodded.
"I'll miss you guys." I said hugging them.
"You are going to see them in a few days." Asad pointed out.
"Guys don't understand." I sighed and Khushi nodded.
"Don't do anything I wouldn't." Khushi winked.
"Well...I can't promise you that." I laughed causing Khushi to erupt
into laughter too. Arnav just looked at Asad arching his eyebrow, Asad just
shrugged again though I knew he had a general gist of what we were referring
"BYEEE!" I yelled as Arnav and Khushi walked towards the waiting
"And then there were two." Asad said putting his arm around me.
"I was so used to the four of us." I sighed.
"On the bright side we have the apartment all to ourselves. Any
ideas on what we shall do?" He teased.
"I may have a few ideas." I smiled as we walked out of the doors
towards the parking lot.
"But I miss you. You should have so been here and we would have had
a mini party getting ready for the party." I said to my Macbook. Khushi was
sitting on her bed, her hair in a bun and a pen sticking out through it as we
FaceTimed each other. I was standing in the middle of my room, in a red chiffon
dress. It felt wonderful against my skin and went to the floor.
"You look so beautiful!"
Khushi gushed as I span around giving her a 360 look. The material
shimmered, though it wasn't layered with sequins. It was such a sexy without
being overly revealing, it was layered at the right places and sheer around my
stomach. I was in love with it.
"Fix that strand!" Khushi's voice came from the laptop as
she pointed to the right of the screen. I did as she asked. "And now
you're perfect," she declared.
"I am missing one thing!" I said grabbing the black velvet box from
"OMG! THAT IS A CARTIER BOX!" Khushi screamed. "OPEN IT!"
I laughed opening the box and holding it up in front of the camera
so she could see them. They were dangly diamond earrings, with three red rubies
in the centre. They were gorgeous. Asad had walked up to me and handed them to
Khushi screeched when she saw them. "OMG! Did Asad get that for you?
Wait, why am I even asking? Of course he did. They are so gorgeous!"
I laughed at her enthusiasm. "Yes, he gave them to me and of
course I protested because it's Cartier, and so expensive. But he said that he
felt like a horrible boyfriend because he never bought me anything in all this
time and he didn't even take me out to a proper date."
"AWWW. Asad's so sweet. I am so happy for you. OMG!"
"I know right. I was going to cry, it was that sweet. And then I
realized we have the most unconventional relationship."
"Yeah, they are not normal. People meet, then date and then get
serious. We went from meeting to moving in." Khushi laughed. "Is Asad wearing a
tux?" Khushi waggled her eyebrows.
"With a white shirt. A black tux with a white shirt. You don't
understand how sexy he looks, I just want to- god, I don't even know." I said
causing Khushi to die of laughter.
"Remember that you can't feel him up in front of people, wait till
you get home." She teased.
"Shut up Gupta!"
"I'll let you go now, I am pretty sure Asad is dying to see you.
Have fun! And send me pictures! Lots and lots of them."
"Will do. Byeee Khush!" I said turning the laptop off. I got up
and smoothed my dress and put on the earrings and pinned half of my hair up so
you could actually see my earrings. I took a deep breath and walked out of the
room into the living room where Asad was sitting waiting. Asad Ahmed Khan in a
tux should be illegal in all fifty states. He was just too gorgeous for words.
His face shot up from his phone as soon as he saw me, a blinding
smile taking over his face. His eyes moved down my body. "You are beyond
beautiful." He breathed out, he looked like he was mesmerized.
"Thank you." I blushed. He smiled getting up and holding out his
"May I escort you to this party?" He asked causing me to laugh.
"Of course." I smiled.
"I am going to have to beat people off with a stick, you look way to
beautiful to be let out into public. I think we should stay home." He teased.
"You could just hold on to me all night and give everyone your Akdu
Ahmed Khan glare, that way no one else will come near me." I laughed as we
stepped into the elevator. He laughed and leaned over kissing my forehead.
"I'll always hold on to you." He whispered forcing an instant smile
onto my face.
The Maliks were amongst the richest in New York and they definitely
didn't do anything halfway. Last year the party was at the Ritz-Carlton in
Battery Park and this year it was at Cipriani on 42nd Street. It was
the most happening and beautiful venue in all of New York. The place had a very
ancient type of vibe, with high vaulted ceilings and pillar. It was a classy
affair, with men walking around in tuxes and women in gowns. In the middle of
the large room was a dance floor with a few couples waltzing, the rest of the
people were enjoying their appetizers and interacting with others. And in the
middle of it all stood Mr and Mrs Malik. Mr. Malik was in a classic black tux
and Shireen Malik look fabulous in her emerald green gown, her curly hair was
up in an elegant bun making her look years younger.
"Wow." Asad said looking around causing Zoya to laugh.
"Rehan doesn't do anything half way." She said knowing that the only
person who would have picked this tasteful venue was Rehan, he had a knack for
"Clearly." Asad laughed.
"Ready to meet a bazillion of my annoying cousins, neighbors and
friends." She asked turning to him, Asad's hands immediately went around her
"I am going to have to since I am not leaving your side the whole
evening. You look too beautiful to be left alone." Asad smiled.
"You are too charming for your own good, ignore anything my aunts
and cousins say." Zoya warned.
"They can't be that bad." Asad laughed.
"Oh they are!" Rehan piped up from behind them. "Tum dono yaha bhi
shooru hogaye." He laughed causing Zoya to turn around. "Damn woman. You clean
up nice." He said nodding at Zoya. "But your boyfriend cleans up better. Dude,
just make sure to run as soon as anyone tries to grab you." Rehan warned but
Asad was having none of his cute humour, he was still not happy with Rehan's
infatuation with his little sister. But he'd be lying to himself if he said
that he wasn't amused by Rehan.
"Nice party you've got going on here." Asad said.
"Thank you! I try." Rehan laughed then stopped looking behind Zoya.
"Are Aapi and Jiju here yet?" Zoya asked.
"Nopeee. How'd dinner go?" He asked looking at Asad.
"It was okay." Asad shrugged.
"That's good. Aapi will come around." Rehan reassured him smiling,
his smile turned into a frown when his eyes landed on the person behind them. "Fatty!
Bimbo Bitch right behind you." He hissed.
"What?" Asad asked confused.
"Sheetal." Zoya whispered. Asad watched shocked as the sweet smile
disappeared off Zoya's face only to be replaced by a very cold look, a look we
would call bitchy. She turned around slowly causing Asad to turn too.
Asad arched his eyebrow at Rehan who was grinning. "Just watch, this
is the shit I live for." Rehan whispered to him as a woman in an
incredibly...s**tty orange dress walked towards them, her hair was straight to
perfection and intentionally placed around her boobs to bring attention to
"I am surprised you had the nerve to show up." Sheetal Kapoor said
looking at Zoya. "Where's your other half? I was dying to see who Gupta had
"Yeah, you have the problem of eyeing other women's men. It's quite
sad actually." Zoya shrugged.
"You're the one to talk. I am shocked that you are standing next to
Rehan and this guy." She said looking at Asad up and down, making him shiver in
disgust, there was something very unsettling about her gaze.
"You would be. The concept of a best friend and boyfriend is quite
difficult to grab by someone like you. It requires a brain, which you clearly
missed out on. I mean, you can't even dress yourself. A bright orange dress,
and the s**ttiest one you can find at that. And I thought Fergie's orange dress
at the Grammys was horrid." Zoya smiled sweetly, Rehan watched amused as a look
of shock and contempt registered on Sheetal's face.
"I thought she was trying to be an oompa-loompa." Rehan added,
seriously, as if he actually believed what he was saying. Asad turned towards
him trying to stop from bursting out into laughter as the waiter came around
handing red wine. Rehan's eyes grew wide, knowing what was coming as did Asad.
"I forgot to ask, how did you like the press release?" Zoya smirked
picking up her drink and thanking the waiter.
"You forget that I am the one that runs a magazine, I can do that
kind of stuff everyday and leave you to nothing." Sheetal said.
"Oh really?" Zoya smiled lifting up her arm like she was trying to
put it on her waist. Asad and Rehan watched amused as the wine flew from Zoya's
glass and onto Sheetal's dress. Everyone around them turned to them when Sheetal
let out a loud, "You Bitch!" , before she started dabbing at her dress.
"OH MY GOD! I AM SO SORRY! I AM SUCH A KLUTZ!" Zoya said loudly
grabbing a napkin from the table beside her. She started rubbing the wine on
Sheetal's dress trying to "fix it" but managing to make it worse.
"STOP!" Sheetal screamed.
"Bitch! You did this on purpose!" She screamed again.
"Of course she didn't, we all say the glass slipping from her hand."
Rehan said innocently as Asad nodded.
"Aw, Sheetal. I am so sorry, you know that I am clutz!" Zoya said
looking really sad.
"Here, let me walk you out." Rehan said, sounding very much like a
concerned gentleman. "I got this." He whispered to Zoya before putting his arm
around Sheetal's shoulders. "Oh! Let me tell you a funny story. Did I ever tell
you about the time I shaved off a girl's head because she was messing with Zoya
and Khushi. It was-" He started as they walked away from the crowd.
"Is he really threatening her?" Asad laughed.
"Of course he is." A voice came from behind them.
"Aunty!" Zoya said as she turned around. "Happy Anniversary! I am so
sorry about this."
"Don't be. I love some good drama." Shireen Malik laughed. "And who
may this be?" She said smiling at Asad.
"Asad, this is Mrs. Malik, Rehan's mom. Aunty, this is Asad Ahmed
Khan, my boyfriend." Zoya smiled.
"Nice to meet you and Happy 25th Wedding Anniversary Mrs.
Malik, I must say that you look absolutely splendid, I would have never guessed
that you were Rehan's mom." Asad said causing Zoya and Shireen to laugh.
"Oh this one is a charmer! No wonder you are so smitten Zoya." She
laughed. "Hang onto him."
"I plan to." Zoya smiled squeezing his hand.
Across the Globe
"But what if they don't like me?" Khushi asked as they pulled up
into the AR Fashion Head Office parking lot in Delhi. Arnav was in a grey suit
looking fine as always, and Khushi was in jeans and a black blazer with heels,
looking "professionally hot" according to Arnav.
"They are paid to like you." Arnav joked.
"ARNAV!" Khushi hissed.
"Here is the thing Khushi, they will like you if you show them the
real you. The woman who is passionate about what she does, is witty and kind."
"But what if they think I am really mean or something?"
"They won't, you need to be assertive and take charge. This is your
line, your dream and you have to direct them and tell them what to do. They
need that. Don't feel like you need to be overly nice, you don't. They'll
respect your work and you, okay? You can do this baby." Arnav smiled. "Okay?"
"Okay. But you can't call me baby here, okay? No one can know that we are in a
relationship!" Khushi said.
"Yes, I know. I don't like it though." He pouted. "I want the whole
world to know you are mine."
"I know. But you know how many mouths are going to start wagging if
they find out that we're together and that I am a designer for this line, I'd
rather avoid the drama and get through with this."
"I understand." Arnav smiled kissing her forehead. "Plus, it'll be
hot if you call me Mr. Raizada." Arnav laughed.
"Shut up!" Khushi laughed.
"Let's go." Arnav said getting out of the car and walking around to
her side, holding the door open for her.
"You can't do that either!"
"I am just being a gentleman." Arnav insisted.
"Do you do this for other women?" Khushi asked.
"Other women don't get out of my car." Arnav pointed out.
"Fine." Arnav said as Khushi slung her black Prada tote on her
shoulder. They walked in silence to the front door of the building as Arnav
controlled the urge to hold her hand and then open the door. He smiled stepping
into the elevator thinking that they had some time alone before they got
upstairs, but his plans were foiled when a middle aged man stepped into the
elevator. Khushi noticed the look of agitation on Arnav's face and let out a
little giggle. They got off at floor ten, and stepped through the glass doors
leading into AR. Khushi watched amazed as the noise level went from a normal
office level to pin drop silence. Only the sounds of the computers buzzing and
people writing were heard.
Everyone that they walked past on their way to the conference room
looked scared and only nodded at Arnav. To say Khushi was shocked would be an
understatement. She realized that his employees were afraid of him having
talked to many of them over the phone about the line, they would stutter and
want to make sure that everything was okay with him. However, she had no idea
that they treated him like the plague.
Khushi took a deep breath stepping into the conference room, it was
already full with numerous people sitting around the rectangular table. There
were two chairs at the front of the room, clearly for her and Arnav. Arnav
walked confidently to the head of the table and faced his employees, all of whom
said good morning.
"Morning." Arnav said shortly, Khushi was shocked that the smile
that always seemed to be on his face when he was around her absent. "Meet Miss
Khushi Gupta, the designer for our fall collection." He announced before taking
a seat and turning the floor to her. Short and to the point.
"Good Morning guys!" Khushi smiled brightly, she failed to notice
how everyone seemed to calm down at her chirpy greeting as she was a bit too
nervous about meeting them. "Nice to finally put faces to people who I've
probably been driving crazy over the past few weeks. I just want to start by
saying thank you for your hard work and I look forward to working with you all.
I am going to be a huge pain in the butt, I am going to need everything to be
perfect, so please don't poison my coffee if I drive you up the wall. I'll give
you a 110% and I expect the same from all of you." Khushi smiled. "Oh! And you
can call me Khushi, none of this m'am and Miss Gupta, it'll make me feel old
and plus, we are all equals here!"
Arnav smiled behind his hand, he realized that she'd already charmed
the pants off all his employees. He'd never seen her in a work environment but
he was impressed. She had hit the perfect balance between a leader and being
kind, something he had yet to master. He looked around the table and noticed
the enthusiastic faces, he'd never seen his employees so pumped about
"All right! Now let's get to work." Khushi said sitting down beside
Arnav, giving him a little smile.
One Week Later
"OH MY GOD! Di, it is so pretty! Did you really grow up there?"
Khushi said tracing her hands over the pictures in the photo album. Di had
decided to embarrass her brother and bring out the family albums but all it
ended up doing was making Khushi fall in love with the antique and traditional
vibe of Sheesh Mahal.
"Bilkul hamari tara beutiful hai naa." Mami smiled causing Khushi to
"I know!" Anjali said sadly, she'd always wanted to visit it but
Arnav would never want to go. It was their father's house, the very house where
his father hung himself. He said it brought back really bad memories.
"Arnav!" Khushi yelled across the room looking at Arnav who was
sitting on the sofa with his laptop, he looked up at her in question. "Let's have
the fashion show at Sheesh Mahal? It's perfect, the line is a modern spin on
traditional wear and having a elaborate fashion show in a Haveli is a perfect
representation!" Khushi said excitedly.
"Okay." Arnav said smiling at her enthusiasm. "I'll let Aman know,
Mom is going to love the idea."
"Perfect! One more thing of the list, which reminds me...Ayaan!
Let's go pick up your brother and Zoyaaa!" Khushi said turning to Ayaan who
was sitting beside a flabbergasted Akash and NK. She failed to notice the looks
on their faces in her excitement to be reunited with her best friend.
"Okay." Ayaan said.
"We'll be back guys!" Khushi said grabbing her bag and walking out
the door with Ayaan leaving behind very flabbergasted Raziadas. Anjali looked
at Akash and NK and then at Nani and Mami, blinking. They all looked at each
other with shock and then towards Arnav.
"What?" Arnav asked when he looked up to
see everyone staring at him in shock.
"What nahi.." Anjali Di said. "WHAT THE-.
Humara maan na bas ab yahi bolne ko kar raha hai." She said as everyone nodded.
"Kya tha yeh?" She asked.
"Baatane ke liye kuch hai nahi Nani." Arnav
said, still confused.
"Bhai...aap...Sheesh Mahal..." Akash added,
stuttering, still trying to decipher what was going on.
"Arnav Bitwa, yeh tum kya kiye rahe?"
"What happened to Sheesh Mahal...kabhi
nahi?" Anjali asked.
"YEAH! Nannav tumne mujhe kitni baar dhamki
di ki I shouldn't even mention going to Sheesh Mahal." NK said. "Phir bhi?"
"Yeh ho kya raha hai?" Anjali teased.
"Pichle 15 saalo mein tum ek baar bhi waha nahi gai...aur Khushi nai ek baar
"Okay. So what's the big deal?" Arnav said
causing everyone to shrug amusedly. "It's Khushi's show and that is where she
wants it. So I'll go. Simple." Arnav said causing everyone's eyes to go wide in
shock and mouths to open wide as he walked away wanting to get away from his
family for the moment. Arnav Singh Raizada wants to go to Sheesh Mahal.
"Yeh Khushi nai Chotte ko aisa kaise kar
diya? Chotte toh kabhi bhi waha jaane ki soch tha bhi nahi hai, aur aaj
achanak..." Anjali smiled excitedly.
