What are the best break-up songs out there in your opinion? Preferably in Urdu, drenched in impossible sadness. But other languages are cool too.

This one's so beautiful.

This isn't technically a break-up song, but Faiz and Nayyara Noor combination produces rare and elegant melancholy.

An innocent break up heart needs something positive, something to be happy about even if it is not the reality at that moment. Not something that will put the heart in a heart attack. lol.

After listening to the first one even I am wondering "jeene ki tamanna kaun kare".

tum hi din chade
tum hi din dhale
tum hi oh bandhoo
sakha tumhi

Well, breakup grief is like a license to wallow in dramatic and self-centered sadness for at least a few days. Happy songs don't really lend themselves to that purpose.

Thanks for posting your pick though.

I like 'happy' break-ups.

I apologize, my knowledge of Hindi/Urdu music is quite limited but here are some of my favorite songs for wallowing in misery and unleashing rage filled violent outbursts.

Kelly Clarkson – Since You've been Gone

Kelly Clarkson – Behind These Hazel Eyes

Kelly Clarkson – Stronger

Avril Lavigne – Happy Ending

Avril Lavigne – Complicated

Joan Jett – I Hate Myself for Loving You

Lily Allen – Smile

Gotye – Somebody that I used to Know

Maroon 5 – One more Night

Maroon 5 – This Love

Cardigans – Love Fool

Rihanna/Eminem – Love the Way You Lie

Abba – SOS

Abba – Winner Takes it all

And if you don't care for lyrics or what the song is about Rammstein always provides perfect release

From Bollywood of the top of my head

Kambakht Isqh

Oh Ajnabee (sad version)

Chalte Chalte

Rabba Ishq Na Hove

Rabba

Dost Dost Na Raha

Dil Aisa Kisi Ne Mera Toda

Ja Mujhe Na Ab Yaad Aa

Why do I know so many breakup songs? 😆

Actually, there's another perfect breakup song in English, but it would be so identifiable to my ex, in case he sees this thread, and cannot give him the satisfaction.

Two more:

There is no such thing as "license to wallow in dramatic and self-centered sadness". Its all in the mind. lol. The reason people listen to sad songs is because they feel content knowing there is someone out there who shares their sadness and is therefore expressing himself or herself through sad songs. Anyway different strokes for different folks.

Here is a sad one. it doesnt get any sadder than this. lol.

sunte the hum, yeh zindagi, ghum aur khushi ka mail hai
hum ko magar, aaya nazar, yeh zindagi woh khel hai
koi saab jeete, koi saab har de, apni to haar hai, yaar mere.

Of course it's in the mind.

Just a bit of self-indulgence, that's all. We all know french fries are bad for us, but we crave them sometimes.
