At the launch of the flagship store of Being Human in Mumbai, Salman Khan spoke about rescuing one of Bollywood's most noted photographers, Jagdish Mali.
According to sources, Jagdish is diabetic and relies on insulin injections to stay fit. When he forgets his insulin shot, he gets disoriented. A few days ago, Mink Brar was distributing blankets among roadside dwellers at Andheri, Mumbai, when she spotted him covered with dirt, wearing a tattered t-shirt and wandering the streets. And like a good Samaritan, she helped the photographer. When she tried contacting Mali's daughter and Bollywood actress Antara Mali, she realised Antara is busy with her newborn baby. And Jagdish allegedly refused to return to his house and after trying, Mink said she called Salman Khan and sought his assistance, which was provided in the form of a vehicle with assistants to take him back home. A caretaker later said Mali had been taken to hospital at Lonavala.
But Antara had a different opinion. She said, "We don't need anybody's help..😲 His condition is such that at times, if he forgets his insulin shot, he gets disoriented. At such times opening a simple door latch can be a challenge. This may happen once in six months, the rest of the time he's fully functioning and normal..👍🏼 This is what happened that evening."
Responding to this statement, Salman said, "Your father is seen walking in a semi-nude condition on the road and you are saying he doesn't need help… You tell me then who needs help?" 😕 Talking about the ace photographer, Salman said: "Jagdish Mali is a very big photographer. We used to struggle to get a photo shoot with him."
Jagdish Mali had reportedly fallen on hard times which had forced him to sell his studio and could also be suffering from alcohol addiction. Among the famous celebrities Mali has photographed include Rekha, Aamir Khan, Amitabh Bachchan, Rani Mukherjee, Dimple Kapadia and many others. He had also worked on advertisement campaigns and fashion brochures for brands. His daughter, Antara Mali, had featured in several movies directed or produced by Ram Gopal Verma.
