Hona Tha PyarHe entered his bedroom, his coat lifelessly hung over his left arm and his black tie loosened with the top two buttons undone.
His sleeves were rolled up and he carried his laptop in his right hand.
Tire, madness and exhaustion dripping from his figure as he moved towards the bed where his wife sat clearly not aware of his arrival, engrossed in her work.
Papers were scattered on the bed with musical notes scribbled on them. Some lay there on the floor crumpled.
Her guitar sat under her arms on her lap as she tried various compositions, tuning the strings every now and then.
Her cute expression and that frown of hers made him smile.
He stopped near her and greeted
"Hi"
"Oh hi"
She placed the instrument on the bed as she realized of her husbands presence.
"Khana khaya?" She asked as she tried to sort her notes.
"Yeah"
He said as he moved towards the washroom.
"Koi pareshaani hai kya?"
She asked looking at his back with deep concern.
"Em kuch nahi just a bit tired" he said in a low voice and closed the door behind him.
-------
He was sitting by the pool on the bamboo rug at one corner of the pool side feeling the green of the plants and the bliss of the pure water.
She came and sat by the pool side her white shalwar touching the tiles surrounding the pool. Her sleeves of her yellow kameez were pushed to her elbows revealing multiple bracelets, each telling a new tale.
Fringes from her messy bun flew in all directions as she flashed her million dollar smile at his defeated state and placed the guitar on her lap.
He smiled knowing full well what was to come next
She began playing the instrument instantly taking him back in the old days
Hona tha pyar
Hona tha pyar
The same tune that marked their very first meeting in the concert that she sang in, which was a fundraiser. He met her back stage. The spark of connection had ignited that very first time and after 5 years of dating they finally got married.
Hua mere yaar
Hona tha pyar
Her melodious voice reached his ears like honey
Hua mere yaar
Aaye nazar
Chehre hazaar
She looked at him with a
sparkle that showed she was happy to be the reason of that smile
Hona tha pyar
Hua mere yaar
mere yaar
She got lost in her trance
Hona tha pyar
She played flawlessly, closing
her eyes lost in the keys
He liked seeing her engrossed
in her passion for music
Tere dil ke shehar mein
Ghar mera ho gaya
Ho gaya
He smiled looking at her then at his plants. Feeling the
sense of belonging and loyalty.
She was as soft as the petals,
as full of life as the green leaves, vibrant like the different flowers.
Sapna dekha jo tum ne
Woh mera ho gaya
Ho gaya
She sang looking at him making
the expressions that spoke of her passion.
Doobey toh yun
Doobey toh yun
Jaise ho paas
Jaise ho paas
He felt closer to her, not
physically or emotionally but bonded by the soul.
Hona tha pyar
Hunm
Hua mere yaar
mere yaar
Hona tha pyar
Hunm
She reminded him of their
beautiful love story. The journey that had just begun and would last an
eternity.
Thame dilon ki baahein
Hum aate saalo mein
Saalo mein
She sang, promising she would
be there forever and always. Her smile generating energy within his being. Her eyes
speaking volumes. Of love. Of happiness.
Of gratitude.
Paye jawab hum ne
Tere sawalo mein
Sawalo mein
She was the answer to all his
prayers
Khwabon Ki dor
Khwabon Ki dor
Toote na yaar
Toote na yaar
She sang. She inspired. She
consoled.
Hona tha pyar
Hua mere yaar
Hona tha pyar
Mere yaar
Mere yaar
"Hmmm" she ended, her
expressive eyes asking for applause.
He broke in his genuine smile
and those worry lines had bid farewell.
