Vaidehi…Ek aur agni pareeksha is the story of a 21-year-old young, spirited girl ,Vaidehi, who comes from a middleclass family. This young girl had small dreams---of a loving husband, supportive family and a small house to call her own. One day, out of the blue, in a true fairy tale-like fashion, Vaidehi's parent's receive a marriage proposal for their daughter from one of the richest families in the country--the Jaisinghs. Her family could not believe their luck. Imagine the richest family asking for the hand of their daughter for their handsome son Aryavardhan .For everyone who gets to know about the alliance it is going to be a fairy tale wedding, but Vaidehi is apprehensive. She wonders what is the reason that Aryavardhan ,who could get any rich and affluent girl in the country, must ask for her hand. Her family and friends tell her that she is the chosen one and she must just happily get in to this marriage.
But Vaidehi is still not convinced. How can she ever adjust to this environment? What is it about this marriage? However once she sees Aryavardhan he sweeps her off her feet. She goes thro' the wedding, a true fairy tale wedding. With stars in her eyes and dreams in her heart she enters the corridors of Jaisingh mansion, where away from her knowledge lies a dark secret. On her wedding night she realizes that the wedding was a faade. It was not in any way a fairy tale ending…but the beginning of a nightmare. She finds herself trapped in this marriage. Vaidehi's life comes to a standstill. She has to go through the ultimate test … the Agnipareeksha!!!

Vaidehi Aryanvardan JaiSingh - Sweet, simple, and Middle class girl, married to Aryan. The story revolves around her life.
JaiSingh - The Father of Aryan and head of JaiSinghs. He has 5 children, and a wife. He likes to be an individual and a very self-respected man.
Sita - Wife of Jai Singh. She never interferes in matters that her husband handles. A typical house-wife and mother!
Aryanvardhan JaiSingh - Eldest child of Jaisinghs. Married before to Janki and has a daughter. A responsible businessman, married to Vaidehi now.
Yashvardan Jai Singh - Second son of Jai Singh, married to Mitali. He helps his dad in business, but even though he is married, he is a complete flirt.
Mitali yashvardhan singh - Wife of Yashdarvan. A innocent wife, and bahu. Never interferes in other matters.
Bhumija JaiSingh - Sister of Aryan, Elder Daughter of JaiSingh. Simple, sweet girl.

Vaidehi's father works in Jaising's industry and Jaising wants his son Aryan to marry Vaidehi because media interfered too much as to why Aryan hasnt married again yet. His wife "supposedly" dies in a car accident.
Vaidehi gets married and Aryan tells her he is impotent and Vaidehi then realises he doesnt love her and doesnt care about her. He is forced to keep Vaidehi in his house and doesnt want any harm to her because if somethig happens to Vaidehi too, people will again question him.
Janki, Aryan's first wife is alive. Sita, Aryan's mother helped her go away from Aryan because he would have killed her as Janki had a daughter with Sameer. Vaidehi too knows and has met Janki.
Vaidehi tries to go away from Aryan but he is always after her as wherever she goes, he follows her there and threatens to take her father's life if she doesn't stop doing things like leaving him etc again.
Neel, Harsh's adopted son, comes like a breath of fresh air in Vaidehi's life and both run away after Vaidehi's father is dead and Sita tells them to do so.
Bhumija is raped by Karan and is disgusted by the fact that her very own father, even after knowing the truth is doing business with Karan's family. Siddhart (Sid) is Bhumija's fiance; to whom Bhumija tries telling the truth about her but can't.
Both, Vaidehi and Neel, fall in love and get married but Aryan, who is more concerned with his false respect somehow manages to find Neel and Vaidehi. He kills Neel and puts the blame on Vaidehi.
Akash, a police officer and harsh's youngest son, at first is handling Vaidehi's case (hasn't met her yet) but later Harsh asks SP to exchange Akash's case.
Vaidehi's car explodes when she was going to Mumbai's jail and everyone thinks she is dead but Janki and Sameer look after her and she gets well, decides to take revenge of Neel's death from Aryan so plans to be Vaidehi's look alike.
Arundathi, a journalist, helps Vaidehi by questioning Aryan and harsh about Vaidehi's whereabouts. Both are quite as they think Vaidehi is dead. But Aryan meets Vaidehi's look alike, Bharevi, and gives her money to act like Vaidehi for sometime. She agrees but troubles Aryan a lot and even slaps him.
Bhumija tells Sid everything and both have nothing to talk about with each other and so are quite. Akash, Sita, Bhumija, everyone in the house doesn't like Bharevi but can't do anything about it since Harsh has told them that she will be gone in few days time.
Sita comes to know that Bharevi is Vaidehi and Neel comes back. So they decide to make Aryan confess his sin himself. They make a plan where Bharevi and Sita pretend as if they can't see Neel and this scares Aryan to death so he confesses "I killed Neel how can he be back" and Police lead by Akash arrests Aryan.
Harsh says he doesn't know anything but Aryan says that if he is to be in jail then so will Harsh so tells police everything. Harsh, in his room, tries to shoot himself but Sita comes with bullets in her hands and says that you won't die so easily and is put in jail.
Vaidehi and Neel are leaving the Jaising Mansion when Sita tells them that it's their house. Bhumija and Sid patch-up. And they all live happily ever after...😉
