Here Aneek is pitted against Anwesha...who is on the rise...n I was dreading that this... coz even though Aneek has been fairly consistent so far... as viewers we are probably more impressed with Anwesha since she has pleasantly surprised us in more ways than one...don't get me wrong here, they are both my favs & immensely talented...but for the umpteenth time I have seen this happenning in a musical reality show with regards to bong participants...people in Bengal are reluctant voters...n hence the votes are far from being evenly distributed

It's hard to believe that a singer like Aneek, after singing phenomenally is eliminated. I am pretty suspicious about the whole voting thing, whether votes are really tallied correctly or not. But putting that aside, assuming the votes are counted correctly, I also feel the votes were compromised between Aneek and Anwesha. It seems more votes went to Anwesha, and it's true people don't always vote by region, Aneek could have received lots of his votes from elsewhere outside Bengal but that is his home state and where he receives his strongest and well deserved support. It seems most of the votes went to Anwesha who i love as a singer but, again we come back to this question in the forum: who is more consistent? Aneek was the most consistent and gave great performances each week, I feel he wasn't given a fair shake throughout this competition as far as song selection goes and now with the voting. Unhappy

I totally agree.

All these shows in the guise of voting promote regionalism, sad but true😳 Same with IPL too.

these shows should foster unity and celebrate music in a cohesive manner, does not happen, as is obvious from posts on the forum.😳

To each his own I suppose...but am sorry this has a lot to do with the region for sure...it's got nothing to do with the title for crying out loud whether it's India ke Superstar or World ka Superstar for that matter πŸ˜†...ya sure people outside Bengal have voted for Aneek & Anwesha as well...leaving aside their regional bias... but when it comes to generating votes with an aggressive stand...the regional support works wonders mostly...but inspite of the fact that music entitle the cultural embellishment of Bengal...the region doesn't score much with respects to the voting fac Smile...like when Debojit Saha won SRGMP C-2005...even though he was a fairly deserving candidate...it was largely coz he hailed from Assam...n the entire N.East region voted for him...at the time also there were half a dozen singers from Bengal...none of whom could even come close...like someone just pointed out...Aneek's main source of sustenance lies in his hometown but unfortunately he is not the privileged one here...no offence...πŸ˜›

Nonny. although I don't disagree with what you say, I would like to let you know that both singers have got fan following from different regions. In fact, the appreciation threads for both of them on this forum were opened by ardent fans who are not "bongs" as you call themπŸ˜†πŸ˜†πŸ˜†. Folks like them and gana and so many others have chosen to support them inspite of having some great singers from their own region or religion in shows such as this. A true music lover does not understand language or religion.

Reality shows like this are just like a big game played by the channel. The only goal is to make money. The path to make money is to get votes and the only way to do that is by exploiting the sentiments of the voters. They do that by creating unnecessary drama. The singers and the judges are just game pieces that they manipulate and play against each other to reach their ultimate goal. Of course, the ones who get highest votes reach the top few, but the final winner is pre-decided. Some of us have learned this the hard way and most of us know this at the back of our minds. Yet we spend unnecessary time and energy in bashing the judges or bashing contestants that we do not support and bashing each other. In fact, I would say that we public are also one big game piece in this big game of reality shows and we let ourselves get manipulated by the channel 😳.

Am sorry Bambooshoot. if I sounded a bit too err regional here πŸ˜†..am sure both Aneek & Anwesha have their respective fan-following from other regions...n people have voted for them unanimously but clearly that is not enough with due respects...leaving aside the channel's conniving tactics to rope in the moolah n big bucks...it cannot be ruled out simply that it is mighty imp to be able to get the maximum votes from one's own native place to be able to survive in a comp like this even if the winner is pre-determined..n am far from criticizing the 'Non-bongs' here like u said 😳...infact quite the opp...am sure the ardent fans have done their bit n more...am a bengali myself & happen to know exactly how their minds work...πŸ˜†...they are generally laid back n that applies to their voting pattern as well πŸ₯± music is an inseparable part of the culture of West Bengal...& the entire region is mesmerized by the eloquent music styles...but somewhere the killer instinct or combative spirit falls short 😊

No worries Nonny. I knew what you meant. I've been an ardent fan of Anwesha since Chote Ustaad. And since then I've made friends with so many people from different parts of the world that love her so much. They come from different regions and speak different languages. Yet they support her selflessly. It is this experience and friendship that taught me that music knows no boundaries.

My point is just that we all know how these channels work. So why do we let ourselves be manipulated by their conniving ways?

@ Bambooshoot, well put! ❀️ 😊 We all know everything is planned beforehand. I knew somehow Aneek wouldn't have a chance at winning, if it wasn't in the script or in his fate to win, if the channel preferred someone else to win, I could vote til I turned blue but it wouldn't matter, it wouldn't help him. But still, like so many others, I gave it a shot and hoped for the best. πŸ˜† I can't say there is zero regional factor but, as you pointed out so wonderfully, so many people love Anwesha or Aneek and the other contestants and they aren't even from the contestant's region. I've said this before: I've been a devoted Aneek fan since he came on the scene in 2007, I'm not Bengali, I'm not even Indian, but that's what makes music so awesome! I think we all get so caught up in the happenings on the show, we forget it's all planned or we feel we somehow neglect our singers if we don't vote.
