Terence, it's nice that you view DID as this encouraging, positive and motivating show for these contestants. And I do agree that encouragement and building confidence is very important. But honestly, that criticism also seems to be lacking this season. And I think criticism is even more important for a dancer. And by this I mean genuine criticism. Because criticizing a dancer, shows that you CARE enough about their performance to analyze it. I am sure you criticize your contestants appropriately off camera, but I miss watching/listening to that kind of critical feedback on screen.
I really don't think you can compare DID with SYTYCD for this reason...because that criticism is very high on that show. Which is what makes it a quality dance show. That quality for DID seems to be going down, because there's too much babying of contestants going on. And I do realize that the culture/context in India is different. But honestly, there's a little too much positivity on this show. :P And it's not the genuine kind either. Alot of the times, the feedback for contestants sounds uninterested and rehearsed to me.
So in order to really raise the quality of DID, I think some genuine criticism needs to be brought back. These contestants do really have a LOT of scope for improvement. Even the choreography needs to be criticized at times.
Other than that, I loved Terence's responses about his dance style. I really do think he has created his own individuality and a medium of self expression through this dance style. It really is a great combination of the Western and the Indian. And the fact that Terence has chosen a contemporary dance style to mix with Indian classical and Bollywood...it's like a mix of an old and a new era...makes the overall style very contemporary and modern. I really do enjoy the scope of creativity and the ability to express in this dance style. And the grace and fluidity it allows too. And Terence really has showcased his knowledge, talent and creativity brilliantly through this dance style of his. 👍🏼
