The set of SAB TV's "Laptaganj" is always full of life - the hustle-bustle of production people, artistes rehearsing and loads of fun and camaraderie among the male artistes - Abbas Khan, Rohitashv Gaur and Anup Upadhyay.
But, this New Year something was amiss on the sets. There was no mischief and no pranks were being played on the sets and Rohitashv was missing the usual hullaboo.
It happened so that Anup, who plays Mama, was quiet on the set and wasn't interacting much with anyone. He wouldn't talk to anyone and when he was not required for shoots, he would sit beneath a tree and meditate. His co-star Rohitashv thought that Anup was not well, so he brought remedial spices from home to treat him. It is only then that Anup told him that in the upcoming track he would be required to play a sanyasi and thus to get into the skin of his character he was adopting this lifestyle.
Mukundi aka Rohitashv, said, "Anup is usually very mischievous on the sets. When he suddenly became silent, I got worried. I thought he had a sore throat. I had a good laugh when I came to know the real reason for his change in behaviour. Even now, I find him meditating and practicing moun vrat on the sets."
Anup commented, "I had a loT of fun portraying a
sanyasi. The character let me explore yet another facet of comedy and as
I was preaching solace on-screen, I started practicing it off-screen as
well. I missed talking to my friends, but work comes first, always."
This Friday, watch Anup aka Mama in a new avatar on "Lapataganj".
