PS - I am posting a link for an audio of the song as sung as sung by the incomparable Maharajapuram Santhanam. For those of you who love Carnatic vocal, it is a treat, although recording quality could be better.

This is awesome.
We should ask the Mods to create a separate space
for such literary exchanges.

I have seen such interesting post in the last couple of days from Bhakta, Chukkna, Swar raj and Sangeetaa.

I cannot speak Tamil but I cannot understand to some extent. And even after some of the emotions 'lost in translation' the compositions of Bharatiyar are thought provoking. Some languages I wish I could learn Tamil & Bengali for their literature.

Came to my mind - one of the Tagores poem, where daughter is asking her mother – the eternal question – 'where I came from' and the Mother answered – "you were always in my heart as a wish"
"Iccha hoye chili moner majhare"

My favorite is this one:

It reminds me of my little niece. If you dare ever say 'no' to the little princess, her brow immediately wrinkles up and those big eyes start glistening... 😔 😃 ...so darn irresistible😳 --
