With you, always
With the recent launch of "Saath Rahega Always" on SaharaOne, here enters Neha Marda, a new face on the small screen

KOLKATA CALLING! Neha Marda in "Saath Rahega Always"
This is her first role in a tele-serial, something that she always wanted to be seen doing. And so obviously, Neha Marda is over the moon these days. In fact, on the first day, Saath Rahega Always, the serial, which features her as Peehu Bhargava, aired on SaharaOne this past week, she waited with bated breath for the clock to strike 7.30 p.m., the show's time every Monday through Friday. "But sadly, I had to satisfy myself with the recorded version as I was shooting for its coming episodes. But often I had to go out of the sets to receive calls from my friends and family who congratulated me on my TV debut, saying, they were waiting for the clock to strike 7.30 p.m. that day. I was so overjoyed. I will always cherish this moment," says Neha. Hailing from Kolkata, Neha has become the first in her conservative Marwari family to enter the world of acting. "But my parents were quite encouraging," she adds. Ravi Behl This trained Bharatanatyam dancer says, she took part in a dance competition show on television some time back where Ravi Behl asked her to give acting a shot. "I sent my dialogue CD to the producers of the show when I got to know that they were working on a serial and they called me to Mumbai to play the role of Peehu," she recalls. "People talk about their struggle days in Mumbai before bagging a role but I was lucky. I struggled only for three days when I appeared for the auditions," she says. And now that she has got into tele-serials, she is keen on walking that extra mile to enter movies too. "I can't live without doing one hour of Bharatnatyam everyday. Besides bringing discipline to my life, I know that dance will be a big plus in my acting career," she says. She names Madhuri Dixit and Sudha Chandran as her idols. Tagging the serial as "an emotional drama", this Class XIIth student says, she identifies a lot with the character of Peehu. "What is best about Peehu is, she is so natural," says Neha. The serial rings around the tale of Peehu and her college friends, Krish, Soham, Palak and Nitin who are all in the second year of Degree College. Weaving different dreams for their future, they are also different in their temperament and that is enough of a peg to spin a tele-yarn. But let's hope, the producers don't stretch it much, for therein lies the success or failure of a soap, isn't it?
