HATSOFF DVD PETITION - Page 2

Hi guys, please sign this petition so we can get Hatsoff to release the dvds of our favourite shows like Sarabhai vs. Sarabhai, Khichdi, Instant Khichdi and Baa bahu aur baby.

I was just researching a bit about the dvd making process. I think they can really pull this off. DVDs cost next to nothing these days. I but them in large packs and each comes down to 10p/ DVD. The quality is 480p (standard TV), not 720p blueray. so they should be able to put in around 10 episodes (without commercials) onto 1 dvd (8.4GB would be best). Sarabhai had around 70 episodes max for its first season. so that's 7 dvds, i think there should be one for like special behind the scenes, makings, interviews, you know extra bonus features. so they should have 8 disc special for the 1st season. It would be perfect.

Now for 8 dvds considering the dics cost/productions/packaging, i think it should cost them around 5 pounds to actually make 1 set. I am willing to pay around 25-30 pound, for the full season 1 set. this way, i get the dvds, good quality, get to watch it whenever i want (i have seen many episodes multiple times, of khichdi sarabhai and baa bahu), so i can keep it forever. and hatsoff get their profit. 2 birds  with one stone. I am willing to pay more for the baa bahu ones cause there are loads more episodes for that.

Now i know this isn't the only costs, most work is done and most cost goes in authoring and encoding process, and that they charge a lot. but if we get like a few thousand people willing to buy the dvds, then it would be no loss to Hatsoff. And I'm quite sure that they will release Khichd-EBLS (movie) dvds, so they must have someone working on the dvd already, so why not these as well.

Sure, there are sites available to watch it online, but it much more fun watching on TV, with perfect quality and actually have the dvds. i love buying boxsets for tv shows really, lol. Khichdi, Instant K, and SVS are definitely possible because they are comedies and can be done in a few discs. but the only big show i want from hats off is baa bahu, not jasuben or behnein or shree, just baa bahu season 1. that was the best show and can be watched again and again. I don't know why they are not making dvds themselves, they made such good shows, don't let them die out and be forgotten. if i had a show like that, i'd release dvds.

So guys, please sign the petition, if you're willing to buy the dvds upon release, because if they have a loss, they won't even consider making them again. I think if they advertise it properly, they can get very good amount of sales of DVDs.

p.s: do comment and tell me how much you would be willing to pay for lets say sarabhai season 1 complete? i'd pay 25-30 pound (altho it's worth around 40). and guys please spread this around, we need a lot of signatures and fast, so they can start this project, it will take time so lets do this! First of all a very well written post👏 ... Now I am  getting motivated to ask people to sign up for the post ...
I agree with you and I dont think that DVD manufacturing costs are that higher ... Now a days every Tom Dick and Harry releases DVD .. and SVS,Khichdi,BBB and IK are classics .. when I went to India , I boughts DVDs for Baal Hanumaan , Panctantra Inspirational stories for Kids, Vikram Betaal ... I watch them and I love them ...

I want to know what is stopping them to release the DVDs .. it makes sense ... Sarabhai episodes on youtube have like 90000 hits , SVS is number 1 on rajshri.com websites ... so is Khicdi,Instant Khicdi and BBB ..

BTW , I was wondering if you could send this as an email to HatsOff production , they are really good in replying and this effort might actually impress them .. Sometimes ... I think I should work for Hats Off Production considerinh how much time I spent in analyzing and over analyzing their serials

Wow, thanks for your kind words. Yeah we should email hatsoff too, but we need signatures first. good points about youtube hits and rajshri.com thingy. every one who makes something (even if its very bad) tries to get it out in everyway, yet Hatsoff with all their amazing shows still haven' released a single dvd.

it's just an example. this had 60 episodes in it, and cost 45 dollars, which in my opinion is very cheap. because sarabhai and instant k episodes are 20 minutes long while the one in the example was 40 minutes long. so this means that they can easily fit in 70 episodes and sell them for 45 dollars, which right now is 30 pound.

this means they can fit around 90 episodes (some were doubles dont forget) of BBB into as 1 volume and sell it for 30 pound. since bbb s1 had around 500 episodes, they can get six volumes. (altho i would only buy the volumes with episodes until praveenas death, around 3-4 maybe). this way they will no way suffer any loss and fans will be happy too.

But i would recommend that they make it only for IK, SVS, K and BBB, i will only buy those, none others, maybe remote control if they have full complete set, cuz my dad loves that one. but no way gonna buy behnein, reshamdankh, shree, jasuben, sukh by chance, or anyother shows. so they should focus on these only.

agree with you about everyone making their own dvds, it really doesn't cost much, all that is needed is a good encoding, and authoring software and 2 professionals (or even 1). it's in USA that they charge thousands of dollars, they over price everything there. I'm sure Hatsoff will have some professionals.

67 episodes, SVS has 70. this one going for 30 USD,okay i know the quality should be better now, so charge 45 USD for it, that will still be worth it. i would be really happy if i get each set for 30 pound (45USD).

A good idea to advertise this petition would be in your signatures .. that way if you post in any other forum those people will notice as well..

great idea man. this is why everyone should get involved, everyone brings new ideas. i was thinking of advertising to other forums, but it wasn't allowed, and there's the solution.

guys, i just have a question, is the current petition site good or shall we try some other ones? no one is signing as much now...

edit: i tried to add it to the sarabhai facebook forum which has 20,000 members, and it's active as well, we'd get loads of signatures there. but it's not posting it there. how shall i do it? does someone know? other members are able to post tho.
