Priyanka, Shahid get comfortable!

Shahid Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra, who were recently shooting for a film promotion, brought the house down with their
Priyanka Chopra More Pics
jokes.

The shoot started around 11 pm, which is when both Shahid and Priyanka could take time out from their schedules. Director Vishal Bhardwaj shot his bit and stayed around to watch Shahid and Priyanka do their bit.

What started as a general feel good show turned into a laughter fest as both Shahid and Priyanka let their guard down. The veejay worked hard to keep up with the unscripted and spontaneous humour that the stars displayed.

Priyanka was on the set with her brother and a few friends, and Shahid was with his own team. With everyone bonding with each others' friends, the shoot turned into a party. Whoever said that they are avoiding promoting their film together may want to check their facts!

"I'm killing myself!" Priyanka

There are czarinas and actresses.
Priyanka Chopra More Pics

And then, there is Priyanka Chopra, a perfect blend of both. PC, who has been inundated with compliments for her performance in Vishal Bharadwaj's Kaminey, is completely overwhelmed with bouquets. However, somewhere deep down, she is also a little worried. The good news is that she is on a hat-trick.

For Madhur Bhandarkar's Fashion she walked away with every award in the book, for Karan Johar's Dostana she got compliments galore, and now for Kaminey — the praise is still pouring in. "I'm over-awed, I can't tell you how great it feels,'' says the natural-born actress.

She says she worked really hard for the part of the feisty, uninhibited middle-class Maharashtrian girl, Sweety in Kaminey. "While the hard work paid dividends it also took from me a lot of blood, sweat, tears and more,'' she sighs.

She is glad that she walked the path less travelled in her movies — Fashion was women-centric; Dostana was a light-hearted mainstream take on homosexuality; Kaminey got critical acclaim for being refreshingly different.

"In other words, the cinema I have done in recent times has been liberating, it has broken barriers.''

And, while she is killing herself over reactions to her next film What's
Your Rashee? — where she essays 12 diversely unique parts, she is seriously worried about the impact of it all on her health.
"I have said this earlier,'' says the actress, "it's the same OCD (obsessive compulsive disorder) at work. I've been warned by my parents (both doctors) and well-wishers not to let work take its toll on me. And, though I wish to pay heed to their advice, I can't stop myself from getting excessively involved with the work I take on. Honestly, I drive myself to a point of no return when it comes to any part that I undertake in a film. I'm just so involved that it starts to hurt. And I don't realise I'm bleeding till such time as I'm on a set because I don't stop to look.''

The actress has forcibly been ordered a hiatus from the studios by her parents. And, when she returns, she hopes to once again start promoting her WYR? and Pyaar Impossible with gusto.

With some girls — there is absolutely no such thing as a 'take-it-easy-policy.' Hai na, PC?

Priyanka: I'm an extremely private

She has kept gossip mongers constantly guessing about her relationship
Priyanka Chopra More Pics
status.

And even when she came to the office for a three-hour session, the actress didn't disclose names. But she did get into a candid chat about her take on relationships. "Dealing with the constant media attention into my private life is a professional hazard but I have to say it's not all right. I am to some extent affected by it as I have a family to answer to. I don't like being linked to random people who I may have just had a conversation with. Still more, I don't want my kids to one day search online and find out about these baseless link-ups," says Priyanka who believes in keeping mum about her love life.

She adds, "One day when I am sure of the person I want to be with, I will be proud enough to openly declare it." The young actress has been said to have dated a number of her co-actors and is bothered by these stories. She feels the public tends to forget that actors are really people, just because they look unreal. Like most youngsters, Priyanka has had her share of break-ups and believes that time heals everything.

"It's tough when a heart breaks and you can't just expect someone to get over it, it takes a good amount of time. I believe love makes the world go round and if you've truly loved and lost, then at least you can get solace in knowing that you loved and cared so much for someone," she says. Referring to teenagers who commit suicide or harm others in the name of love, Priyanka feels it's not worth giving up your life. "Life is amazing; there are so many people craving for more time to live while others choose to take their own. Break-ups are hard but once you get through those first few months you will feel lucky to have known love," she says giving her gyaan on love.

I live to eat: Priyanka

Priyanka Chopra calls herself 'destiny's favourite
Priyanka Chopra More Pics
child'.

"I've always considered myself lucky — whether it comes to attaining success at an early age or even something as small as having a high metabolism. For someone who hates gymming, I'm blessed to have a lean body structure," she smiles.

Priyanka says that the sexy body she flaunted in Dostana and Fashion was a result of training for four months. But not the intense gym session you'd imagine. "I find going to the gym a very boring routine. When I had to tone up for these movies, I'd make up excuses almost everyday to get out of training. I'd sit in my room and pretend to have severe stomach ache hoping that my trainer would let me skip my workout. But she just wouldn't let me be alone! Over time she realised that I was not a gym person so she came up with other ways of working out that I'd enjoy. So we'd go roller blading, cycling or even simply running in the park. Those workouts made me super fit. And by the time Dostana was wrapped up, I told myself this was it — never again!" she says with a laugh.

Although the pretty actress hates working out, she stresses on the fact it is essential to be fit and healthy, and one must simply choose a workout routine that suits them best. "Even if it's something as simple as walking up and down the stairs — do it sincerely and regularly. I'm grateful to have the metabolism that I have, I can tone up fairly well even in a matter of two weeks. I also don't impose any dietary restrictions on myself — I live to eat! I ensure that I have a regular workout that complements my eating habits. Since I'm constantly on the run (I sleep for barely five hours), all my energy gets utilised. But yes, a healthy lifestyle is important to have a healthy body," she says.

Priyanka Chopra wants to change Dhan Te Nan

After the success of Vishal Bhardwaj's "Dhan Te Nan" in Kaminey [^], Priyanka Chopra [^] is keen to have a female voice to the song. The actress had a word with the director and they soon plan [^] to record the song with a female singer.

Buzz up!
A source reveals, "Priyanka was in love with the song the moment she heard it. She always used to dance and sing on the sets to the song. PC complained to Vishal of being biased to Shahid Kapoor and giving him such a peppy song. At a recent award function, Priyanka chose to dance on this number even though it was a male voice."

The source continues, "Piggy Chops has now requested the director to have a female version recorded to the earliest so that she can dance to the tunes of this song at various functions. Currently, the director and Priyanka are busy with the various other commitments, but will soon record a female voice."

A source close to Priyanka reveals, "Priyanka totally loves the song and has spoken to director Vishal sir for having a female voice to the song. Nothing has been finalized but hopefully one will hear the female version soon with PC dancing to it."Edited by rajorakajal - 14 years ago

"WYR has been the most difficult film in my career" - Priyanka Chopra

It was immediately after I got a call saying, 'Call Priyanka Chopra in five minutes' that I sat down in front of my laptop and searched for the Taurus (that's my sign) and Cancer (that's Priyanka's) compatibility for Sunday the 6th of September 2009. This is what it read: 'The Cancer adds to this union more sensuality and imagination. Both are passionate and do not need any extraneous help to be pleased by each other. The Taurus is capable to understand changes in the mood of the Cancer, and can help to smooth the problems, if such appear. The Taurus is usually an attentive person. The Cancer is responsive. The understanding of each other problems will help the existence of pleasant connection. A successful marriage.'

Buzz up!
Now that's something which I couldn't have imagined in my wildest dream. But after reading this, I imagine. I imagine a world turning upside down, butterflies walking the road [^], cars flying across the sky and I cooking some lovely scrambled eggs with toast and freshly squeezed orange juice for my imaginable wife Priyanka Chopra [^]. My phone rings again and a voice shouts, 'Call Priyanka Chopra now.' For a second I imagine, 'I ain't that lucky one nor a star....it's her.' We got talking to the statuesque starlet Priyanka Chopra on her twelve diverse roles in a film which questions - What's Your Raashee? which may re-define the word 'acting'.

Are you ready for the not so clich questions?
(Laughs) Hoping so. You can keep on asking the questions and I'll tell you if I've heard it or not.

So let's start with a clich then. What's your star sign Priyanka?
(Laughs) I'm a Cancerian.

How does your horoscope read today?
It says that my next week is going to be very good and I'll be travelling. Today it says that I will be more relaxed which is far from what I'm feeling at the moment (laughs).

How do you make someone fall in love with a Cancerian woman?
You just have to get along.

Oh! Is that a hint?
Yes it is, to all the Baxter boys out there (laughs).

People increasingly comment on what strange times we are living in. Do you have any thoughts, from an astrological point of view, on why things seem to be more harried or crisis-oriented than the usual?
I think times are such that we complicate our own lives. Life has become very fast and from a logical point of view, I've certainly not become an astrologer post this film. I don't know much about star signs. I've reached a point in life where I have to keep pace with life itself. I'm constantly running around and you can see that. Life is complicated a bit (laughs).

When you won Miss World, there were more fireworks seen in the sky than the stars. From that day on, do you think stars have got a special place in your life?
Well, I'm constantly surrounded by them in the film industry (laughs). Besides that, while I was filming for What's Your Raashee, I did start thinking about and believing in the zodiac signs.

Were you given any research material to work on?
I wasn't given any sort of research material but I did land up buying a book in October 2008 by author Linda Goodman titled Sun Signs and Love Signs for my research. I play twelve different characters and I do feel that the responsibility is mine. A lot of the research was done by Ashutosh Gowariker [^] but once the script is given to me, it depends a lot on me to add more to it.

Come to think of it, this film is going to appeal a lot more to all the communities as they will find their answer - a perfect bride.
(Laughs) The film is about a Gujarati world and it's real. It's about an NRI boy who comes into India and is forced to marry in ten days. Arrange marriages happen in India almost everyday. So if some find their answers, good for them.

Is this Ashutosh's biggest gamble?
I think with every film he feels that. I remember when Ashu sir told me, 'It's my most difficult film ever.'

How much of Mr Yogi has influenced your film?
Mr Yogi was also derived from a book called 'Kimball Ravenswood' written by Madhu Rye, a Gujarati US based citizen and when Ashu sir saw a Gujarati play titled 'A Suitable Bride', is when he got inspired to do the film. So he went back to the source and started to adapt both, the book and the play, into the film. That one book has actually been a source of theatre, book and a film now.

Darshan Jariwala quotes, 'Priyanka has surpassed her previous best, Fashion, in What's Your Raashee' How diversely challenging was it to play the twelve different characters?
What's Your Raashee has been the most difficult film in my career so far. You know when people play multiple characters, they have structures, they are from different parts of the world, sometimes they are a twenty year old and then become a forty year old in the same film, some with eyes small, etc. I have no clutches. All the girls I play in the film are in the age group of eighteen and twenty four. Only one of my role is shown where I play a fifteen year old. None of them are caricatures and all of them are Gujarati's by caste and are marriage material. Besides that, everything else is modulation, body language and performance. That is the most challenging part.

There are also five different styles of dancing in the film, right?
Yes, there are. I had to learn Jazz because my character of Mallika Desai who plays the Leo girl is a trained dancer. I had to even look as a formal dancer. There is also garba. There are various dance forms to suit the flavour of many of the girls in the film.

During Fashion, you said that you will never be able to surpass the kind of role you've played. Now comes What's Your Raashee where people are talking about your performance. Anything going to surpass this one?
Every time I say that it won't I end up surpassing my previous best (laughs). I'm actually looking forward to one film in particular which releases next year which may surpass my What's Your Raashee? role. The film is still not finalised.

Will the film break even?
Of course it will, and even better I hope. Every character comes from a certain type of Raashee, a zodiac sign. This is a story of a common man and his problems. It's a story of how he chooses girls. There is nothing heavily oriented in the film. It's a light hearted breezy flick which you can watch with your grand parents, girl friend, boy friend [^] or family.

Have you ever been insecure promoting any of your films?
Never, because once it comes on board, every film of mine is a Mughal-E-Azam [^], whether it does well or not, I stand by it.

What words would you like to leave our readers with?
Well, the fact that I've put my blood and soul into What's Your Raashee (laughs). The film is very entertaining. I've represented twelve different Raashee's in a correct and a good way. I honestly want to know the feedback on that.

Let me finish with a clich one too. Do you believe in Astrology or Tarot, etc?
(Laughs). I don't believe in them nor do I follow them. But for the pure fun of it, yes. My scientific mind does not allow me to believe that how can the entire human species be divided into twelve parts or twelve different kinds of people? There are thousands of them who are brought up in the most remote places of the globe and you're telling me that all the Cancerians are alike. I don't buy that.
