In Loving Memory-Ishmeet Singh Sodhi

Ishmeet Singh Sodhi

_________________________

(September 2, 1989 -  July 29, 2008)

When he sang a heartbreaking lyric, he made many cry; next he would hit a happy note with a chirpy song and the audience would dance in frenzy.

Many of us will remember Ishmeet Singh Sodhi for his superior voice and his sensitive nature. After sharing his ups and downs for months every weekend, his death seemed like a loss very close to home. And although his voice may not make it to the big screen as he had hoped; he will no-doubt forever be remembered for everything that he stood for.

It was not a long time ago that we all saw a soft spoken Sikh lad, shedding his natural, soft spoken demeanour and  jumping up in joy, celebrating his victory in the finals of Star Voice of India.  Shy Ishmeet, who was one of two finalists in the musical contest, beat close friend and rival Harshit Saxena to the crown title of Voice of India in November 2007. Barely 19-years-old, the humble teenager had succeeded in winning the hearts of the Indian and International public with his humility and hard work. After winning the contest, he had promised to fulfil his mother's dream of achieving a degree in Architecture, since he had just fulfilled his father's aspirations.

Sadly, today we prepare to mark the first anniversary of the day Ishmeet was cruelly taken from us.

On the 29th of July, 2008 Ishmeet was touring Maldives with an event management company to perform for Star Voice of Maldives to be held on the 1st of August, 2008. Ishmeet Singh died after drowning at the Chaaya Island Dhonveli resort's swimming pool where he was staying.

His death came as a big shock to the Indian music industry and his fans and the manner in which it was delivered - laconic, cold and controversial, seems to be contrary to Ishmeet's affable personality. He was simply taken too soon.

Let's take a few moments to pray together for the departed soul. A soul which was, undoubtedly innocence, purity and humility personified!

May Ishmeet rest in peace and may God give his family, friends and fans the courage to bear this tragic loss.

We have, and will always love you Ishmeet. You will never die, because you will always live in our hearts.

WAHE GURU JI DA KHALSA, WAHE GURU JI DI FATEH.

JO BOLE SO NIHAAL – SAT SRI AKAL.
