*To be directed by Prabhudeva in his first Hindi
film*
*Mumbai Mirror - Kunal M Shah*
There is no denying that Boney Kapoor has bounced
back. To begin with, he
produced one of the top grossers of the year (No
Entry), and later announced
a sequel to his 1987 super-hit, Mr India. Kapoor has
now signed on Salman
Khan for his next venture that is to be directed by
Prabhu Devaa.
When contacted, Prabhu Devaa confirmed the news, "We
have finalised Salman
for the film but it's too early to reveal anything
about it, as everything
is in its initial stages." About his debut in
Bollywood as a director, the
dancer-turned-director says, "I am very tense… in
fact, scared. I get tense
even when I am making a film in the South. And now
that I am stepping into
Bollywood, it will be a huge responsibility. I hope
I can deliver the goods.
With Salman and Boney, it will be an ideal debut
venture. The language won't
be a problem anymore because I understand Hindi
quite well."
Producer Kapoor for his part adds, "We are expecting
the film to start in
June next year." He further confirms, "It is not a
South remake and Prabhu
Devaa has written the entire script keeping Salman
in mind. I think Salman
is among the most dedicated stars in the industry
today. He is also sincere
and his approach towards everything is heart
warming."
When asked if Khan's relationship with his son Arjun
(Arjun is dating
Salman's sister Arpita) has nurtured this equation
with Salman, Kapoor says,
"I was always friendly with Salman even before he
became friends with my
son. His friendship with Arjun is an added bonus for
me."
