Hi there people.. its so long since I posted something.

I've been reading this thread... and I'm so EXCITED !!!!!!

For years I've been thinking (and my family has been suspecting !) that I'm CRAZY.... cause I'm obsessed with mythological serials !!!!!!
Now I know I'm not alone.....
Lalitha, Rajneesh,
You are my heroes
This is like a support group for us dharmic-seral-philes

I must have spent the better part of my teenage years watching, recording, re-recording, memorising, and dreaming about all these serials...
My God, I know every scene u guys describe, I even know the conversations, and the sequence of some songs by heart !!!
I've watched these serials for ......
Inspiration (RS Ramayan - Shabri episode, Pushpvatika,)
When I'm sad (RSR - Sita's vanvaas - RSSK - He praneshwar Vidaa)
When I'm happy (RSR - Rajyabhishek, RSSK - Hamara Kanha Govardhan-giridhari)
When I've been in love (RSSK - Radha & Krishna's 1st meeting - Naa jaane those kaun yugo kaa naata !)
When I'm angry (RSR - the brilliant scene before Shurpankha arrives, when Lakshman asks Shri Ram why does he lose his temper when SHri Ram is always so calm)

I wouldnt be wrong in saying that Ramanand Sagar-ji has molded my personality in a great way...
and as for Ravindra Jain - I feel he's written the background music of my life!!!!

Thanks girls for validating all I belive in and feel passionate about.

I have so many opinions too, and would love to share with you guys

Welcome aalochak!Hug My, it really has been a looooong time since we saw your posts, but we're thrilled that you're back!Big smile

I enjoyed reading your post soooooooo much! You are 100% completely right! Ramanand Sagar has really molded so many of my views and beliefs, and answered so many questions I had on some of our scriptures. It was actually his serials which increased my interest in puranas and convinced me that no romance/action/adventure novel can ever compare to the divine story of our scriptures. No romance story can ever be sweeter or more beautiful that the story of SitaRam or RadheShyamHeart.

Oh wow, we are similar in so many ways! I too watch Sitaji's Vanvaas whenever I feel sad, and feel that I have no right to be so gloomy when Sita Mata went through so much, and that too for us.Embarrassed And the times I've watched SitaRam Rajyabhishek, Sita Swayamvar scenes, SitaRam Vivah, Kans Vadh, Radha Krishna Holi, or Maha Raas Leela are innumerable.LOL

Thanks a lot once again for posting here, we look forward to many interesting conversations/picture siggie exchanges, or fanfics from you.Tongue

Me too, or me three rather, when it comes to having been morally influenced by our mutual fav shows. Sita's Vanvaas in RSR and Devaki/Vasudev's trials and tribulations in RSSK help me realize that nothing I'm going through is that bad so not worth complaining about; Vibhishan getting humiliated and kicked out of Lanka for standing by his beliefs taught me about resisting peer pressure, the family interaction between many diff characters makes me want to be a better daughter/sister/etc (hi Lallikins, WWSD/WWUD - what would Sita/Urmi do LOL); and of course the examples set by SiyaRam and RadheShyam are the best lessons in love that one could possible hope for Clap

I even look to RS's works for a laugh, like Kumbhkaran being woken up and Hanuman messing up the fruit orchard in RSR as well as scaredy-cat Kans and Rohini's in-drag bodyguards during her escape from Mathura in RSSK LOL

Just wanted to share some of my top my song choices for the categories you've set though, since they're more efficient than my previous, excessively broad listing separated only as happy songs and sad songs...
Inspirational - Ram Naam Adhaar Jinhe from bridge-building scene in RSR and Tu Dheeraj Mat Haar from RSSK (which I put up the lyrics and translation for a couple pgs ago)
Romantic - Pushp Vatika songs, Prachi Dishi which follows in RSR; Maharaas and Prem Jagat Ka Saar in RSSK
Sad - the "Vidhna" twins LOL; Vidhna teri lekh kisi ki samjh na aati hai (from a couple scenes regarding the vanvaas in RSSR and then at Sita's exile in Lav Kush) and Vidhna tere khel niraale (from Devaki and Vasudev's imprisonment following the death of baby#1 - which, did u notice Lallikins, the current JSK has ripped off as "Vidhna tera bhed na aave" for the same situation, even though the music's not by RJain Angry)
Cute baby stuff - Thumak Chalat, Jaago Lalna Jaago, and Sita's lullaby for LavKush in RSSR; Soja Lalla, Hari Ko Maat Sikhaaye Chalna, and Haath mein Makhan from RSSK...

Theres many more I'll continue to add, and if you guys could share your favs in these and any other categories you can add, I'd love to know them!

Thanks for your fav list! Def Vibhishan being exiled from Lanka is a very inspirational episode. I think I'll make a siggie on him too.Big smile Can't wait to scoop it up! I've taught several bal vihaars in which I've showed the kids that scene to teach them the importance of doing what's right, not what's cool LOL

Hey, if you don't mind. Can you repost the funny epi with Rohini running away from Mathura?
Of course I can honeybunch! But you have to watch right now and tell me how funny and generally engaging the scene really is so I feel less weird for watching it over and over as a kid lol (j/k) LOL
It starts abt ten mins into this, with the funny part at 11 mins: http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x3ot7h_krishna-part-23_shortfilms

Sooooo glad you liked it! So Lola's not loca for watching it over and over LOL Leave it to RS to make even filler material THAT entertaining Clap

And on a completely opposite note, I listed the "Vidhna twins" among my fav sad songs from our fav shows and was wondering if anyone else thought a certain song from the current JSK sounds at least somewhat inspired by them.

One is "Vidhna tere lekh kisi ki samajh na aate hain", of which there are 3 versions in Ramayan - one at the first exile http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=577O2TGbA88 , one when Sita leaves for her second (and IMO the saddest in terms of picturization and lyrics Cry, also the one in Lalitha's animated siggie) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qC2QtEAKygg and the third when Ram's thinking about his kids http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dtMy2C9nTdc

The "twin" would be the thematically similar (calling fate cruel) but musically very different (both are melodious, but while the Ramayan one is soft and ballad-ish, this one has a bolder, more theatrical sound and really shows off RJain's vocal range) track from Devaki and Vasudev's imprisonment:
[YOUTUBE

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hp3MGlEGed0[/YOUTUBE

The Ramayan one has subtitles, so simply listen, read them if needed and weep Cry The Krishna one doesn't so here's a translation:

Ek Ek Kar Ke Khul Rahe, Bandi Grah Ke Dwaar

The doors of the prison cell open up one by one

Nirdoshon Ke Bhaagya Mein, Likh Diya Kaaragaar!

Into the fate of innocent ones, you've written life in a dungeon

Vidhna Tere Khel Niraale X2

Creator, your games are unique

Bandi Grah Ki Or Chale Hai, Mehlon Ke Rehne Waale!

Those who belong in a palace move towards a dungeon

Haaye Vidhna, Tere Khel Niraale!

Oh creator, your games are unique

Aankh Ke Aage Aankh Ka Taara, Toot Gaya Chhaya Andhiyaara

In front of her eyes, the light of her life was extinguished (literally, star of her eyes fell – shooting star metaphor)

Jisne Udhaaya Sneh Ka Aanchal, Ban Gaya Mamta Ka Hathyaara!

He who had spread over her the cloak of affection, became the murderer of her motherhood

Yeh Kaisa Bhai Jo Behen Ki Kokh Ujaade Daale

What kind of brother destroys his own sister's womb

O Vidhna, Tere Khel Niraale!

Oh creator, your games are unique

Nithur Niyati Ne Ki Man-Maani, Dukh Par Dukh Dene Ki Thaani

Cruel intentions stubbornly prevailed, forcing them into sorrow after sorrow

Par Aise Bhi Kuch Balidaani, Vidhi Se Jinhone Haar Na Maani

But some great ones make sacrifices without being defeated by destiny (not losing hope)

Dharm Se, Pran Se, Apne Vachan Se, Ek Pag Tale Na Taale!

From duties, resolutions, and promises, never do they stray

O Vidhna Tere Khel Niraale!

Oh creator, your games are unique

Bandi Grah Ke Ban Gaye Vaasi, Mehlon Ke Rehne Waale!

Those who deserve a palace are now residents of a dungeon

Though the central concept of both is similar, RJain was able to create original, haunting melodies and and non-repetitive tearjerker lyrics for both - wish he had the time to do the same for NDTV's and didn't water down the poetry for the audience, so we could hear more songs like these.

Question is, is it just me or does the following song from the current JSK - NOT composed by Jain - sound at least somewhat inspired by the two originals listed above? Any thoughts?

2:27ish into this clip, and in several other scenes in the show.

Thanks for the lyrics! They really are so moving and touching!Cry And I agree with you about JSK's song...it does sound very similar. I wonder if they can do that...if it's not RJ's creation?

If BRC wasn't so afraid to tap into the "BRC Puran" and give us more scenes that appealed to the heart instead of just the mind, his Ramayan could've been a lot better.

And I agree Aradhana, the Bramha Vishnu Mahesh Sita was pretty decent compared with others in later serials, less filmy-type. I also think Shah Nawaz (yep, our very own Vasudev, plus 30 lbs Big smile) made a great, expressive Dashrath - had they only used his pleasant original voice, it would've really been memorable and appreciated by more people. IMO neither could come near the "Mytho Holy Trinity", but had potential to be better received than they were.

You are welcome....yes it had potential esp. in the beginning. Same goes for BRC vishnupuran and Ramayan.Big smile

Yes thanks to Lalitha we all have a home now.
And thanks Lola for your Youtube posts.... those videos are so rare and precious.
I hate it when they edit out scene because they assume us dumb viewers wont appreciate them...

Don't worry Aalochak, these threads will NEVER end! JSK is not going to end any time soon, and even if it does, the forum will go on for 4-5 months at least, by which time we can start FC2 somewhere else. And these threads do not have to be forum dependent, because once all the mytho shows end, we can start our FCs in the Chat Clubs! The Chat Club forum is one of the "immortal forums", meaning it'll never close down as long as IF is alive, so if worst comes to worst, we can reopen the FCs in CC Forum!Big smile But no, I don't have facebook. I spend enough time as it is on IF that I don't think I'll have time to manage a facebook account as well.LOL

Why don't you come to the Ramananad Sagar's Ramayan FC? We have tons of discussions on Ramayan there as well. Do you want the link?

Like Kaikeyi's song of remorse, a huge favorite of mine in the original Ramayan for the unique, folksy instrumentation and Padma Khanna's Ouch expressions:

And the knockoff he did for NDTV's version, with less artsy, more conversational lyrics and less organic instrumentation Unhappy
Totally agree... alot of recycled tunes !!!
Even the Gauri Puja song u mentioned was a recycle of another Gauri Puja song... one by Rukmini in RSSK.... listin from 1:50... Gauri gaurangi maiya was the original song from RSSK which also had an Arti tune in it... The Arti tune was dropped, recycled and used for "Jagadame Jagakalyani" in NDTV Ramayan.

Oh yes and I absolutely dig the original Kaikeyi song of remorse... the folksy instruments and the folksy almost-Bhojpuri lyrics Wink!
