Mumbai, Wednesday, September 17: Consistently
delighting viewers with its innovative programming, India's leading
general entertainment channel STAR PLUS, after the success of Hamari
Devraani, is all set to spruce up its matinee band with the yet another
new offering- Jahan Pe Basera Ho, starting 22nd September, every Mon -
Fri, 12.30 pm.
Jahan Pe Basera Ho is a story of a middle-class family residing in
Allahabad-the Sharmas. All the 13 members of the family live in a
cottage on the banks of Allahabad called Hari Nivas. It was built by
Hari Prasad Sharma, his wife Savitri and their three sons. A personal
effort of their love, affection, hard-work and toil Hari Nivas
symbolizes and impersonificates the character of Hari Prasad Sharma
himself, in the show.
It's this space of happiness & peace in Hari Niwas that all the
members of Sharma family come together time & again, seeking
comfort, like coming back in the arms of their own beloved member Hari
Prasad … as their father, husband, mentor, a pillar to the family.
Commenting on the launch of the show, Anupama Mandloi, Senior Creative
Director, Star Plus says, "There is a set of viewers available in this
timeslot that we want to provide original programming to. Our
afternoons are delivering well and we want to consolidate the time band
further with great storytelling and engaging characters that will keep
viewers involved".

Character Sketch
1. LATE HARI PRASAD SHARMA
Artist name: Pratap Oza
Late Hari Prasad Sharma was honest, humble, hard working person with
high morals & principles in life. He hailed from a small village
near Allahabad and landed up in the city with many dreams & hopes.
He started off his career as a simple salesman and gradually set up his
own shop of saree & dress material. Besides professional growth,
Hari Prasad also grew up personally with his three obedient sons &
his wonderful wife.
Soon he had set up the foundation of his dream house 'Hari Nivas'. It
took five long years to build up the entire house. With each day the
house kept growing along with the Sharma family. It became a part of
their identity. This house was a witness of the courtship between Hari
& Savitri and shared the inter-personal bonding amongst each family
member.
2. SAVITRI SHARMA (AGE 60-65 YEARS)
Artist name: Deepti Mishra
Savitri, Hari Sharma's widow is a very loving & caring woman. She
was the force and support behind her successful husband, Hari. As
idealistic & moralistic like Hari, she is full of life & lives
every moment to the fullest. She loves to play pranks on everyone. She
is fond of keeping fit through a health regime & insists the same
for all too.
She is fond of Baba Ramdev as he stresses on healthy life & the art
of living. Despite of not being educated, Savitri gained knowledge
after her marriage, as Hari himself gave her a basic education in Hindi.
For Savitri 'Hari Nivas' had all the memories of those precious moments
she spent with her husband. She often converses with him, when she is
alone. Savitri personally supervises and takes care of 'Hari Nivas'.
She has a strong bonding with her youngest bahu Lakshmi. She claims
Lakshmi is the daughter she never had. Theirs is one of a kind,
saas-bahu love story!
3. VIRAAT SHARMA (AGE 40-45 YEARS)
Artist name: Deepak Dewoolkar
Viraat is the eldest son of Savitri. He is extremely sober & hard
working, very responsible & considerate, he is the one who manages
all the accounts of the house; takes care of everyone's requirements,
makes the monthly household budget & manages all the expenses.
4. KALYANI SHARMA (AGE 38-40 YEARS)
Artist name: Jaswinder Kohli
Kalyani is the oldest bahu of the family. She is Viraat's wife and
mother of two children, Aditi and Aditya. She is very dedicated to her
family and spends her entire day taking care of the needs of all the
family members. She is very well natured and is a great emotional
support to her husband, Viraat. Kalyani is Viraat's confidante. She is
aware of all his financial problems and helps him to overcome them. She
has a good relationship with the youngest bahu Lakshmi.
5. SHIV SHARMA (AGE 36)
Artist name: Sachin Parikh
Shiv is the middle son of Savitri. He is a born musician, singer &
lyricist. Give him a word or an object & he is ready with a song
for it. He was never good in studies & had an obsession for music,
inheriting the tastes of Hari & Savitri. Shiv is very soft spoken,
gentle, calm and lazy in nature. He singsongs his words & has a
couplet for every occasion. Life is musical rhythm for him.
6. INDU SHARMA (AGE 30 YEARS)
Artist name: Paayal Singh
Indu is Shiv's wife. She is very much enticed by the nearby happening
city of Delhi and is a very good singer. But singing is her hobby. She
belonged to a family that was not as well to do as the Sharma's. Indu
cannot speak English. She does try to learn it, but can't speak more
than a few basic words. She has a seven year old bright child, Babloo,
who is the darling of the household.
7. NARENDRA SHARMA (AGE 28 YEARS)
Artist name: Raj Singh Verma
Narendra being the youngest son of Savitri, is very romantic at heart,
in fact he romances every moment of his life. He is very charming,
lively, idealistic & honest person. He has a dashing persona &
is a total extrovert.
He wants to do many things for the family, always striving to give them
happiness. The happiness of any of his family is more than enough for
him to forget all his day's struggle & pain. Falling in love with
Lakshmi was the best thing that happened to Narendra.
8. LAKSHMI SHARMA (AGE 24 YEARS)
Artist name: Noynikka Chakroborthy
Lakshmi is the newest member of 'Hari Nivas'. She recently got married
to Narendra, Savitri's youngest son. She hails from a very rich family
based out of Delhi, a girl who has seen ample of wealth but has never
been enthusiastic about or corrupted by money. Lakshmi is very simple
& down to earth & a level headed person. She is a woman with
self respect and has never gone to her father for any sort of help, in
times of crisis. In fact she initiated & motivated the women of the
house to start a small catering work of tiffins, to support the family,
& also making them more productive.
Her characteristics are an exact replica to that of Hari's. She is
extremely humble, idealistic & a charming woman. She is elegantly
poised, very warm & caring. She loves the family. Lakshmi is full
of life like Savitri & full of love for all, like Hari was. She is
treated more like a daughter than a daughter-in-law. She shares an
amazing bonding with her mother-in-law Savitri. She is childish &
is inherently inquisitive & curious by nature. Like her husband,
she also loves to talk and really gets along well with Babloo.
9. BABLOO SHARMA (AGE 7 YEARS)
Artist name: Jainam Shah
Babloo is a very sweet & sensible kid with a perfect childhood. He
names the Gharounda, Babloo Hari Nivas, which is a miniature of the
main house. Narendra & Babloo share a very strong bonding. Babloo
being a kid has multiple questions & answers, which Narendra keeps
answering.
10. ADITYA SHARMA (AGE 20 YEARS)
Artist name: Drupad Davawala
Aditya is 20 years old smart chap. A sportsman who idolizes Yuvraj
Singh and is a fitness freak, extrovert, and highly focused that brings
about a streak of stubbornness in him. He refuses to get up early for
studies or college, but when it comes to cricket, he is on toes in a
blink. Aditya is trendy and is a sports freak.
11. ADITI SHARMA (AGE 17 YEARS)
Artist name: Shabnam Pandey
Aditi the 17 years old sister of Aditya is completely his reverse in
nature. She is studious and an introvert. Narendra hopes for her to
become a doctor. She has no interest in sports and is not at all
fashion conscious. She is extremely loyal to her brother, and loves him
dearly as much as that she can sacrifice all her needs for her him. She
saves her pocket money, & ends up spending it on her brother's
needs. She is completely excluded from the hip hop crowd of her age.
Both Aditi & Aditya are extremely understanding and are always take
care of each other's needs. They both are fond of Lakshmi, who treats
them as an equal & they share all their adolescence worries with
her.
12. SIYANI BUA (AGE 53 YEARS)
Artist name: Renu Pande
Siyani Bua is a widow. When Hari was alive she had shifted to 'Hari Nivas' permanently after the death of her husband,.
This is her brother's house; she has witnessed the courtship of Hari
& Savitri. She was very fond, & full of praise of Hari. Siyani
bua is desperate to find a rich & handsome groom for Kamakshi.
Siyani & Kamakshi share a special bond with Savitri wherein they
idolize the perfect match to be some one like Hari.
13. KAMAKSHI SINHA (AGE 30 YEARS)
Artist name: Anushka
Kamakshi is Sayani bua's daughter, pleasantly plump & not very good
looking. Her mother is desperate to get her married. While Kamakshi
falls for every other guy, her mother always finds something lacking in
him.
The mother and daughter are always in search for a groom, be it in the
matrimonial columns, or any advertisement, or celebrities or even any
visitor that comes to Hari Nivas.
Both of then are fond of eating. Kamakshi does her work outs regularly,
the yoga, and aerobics, most times on Lakshmi's prodding. Soon she is
back to her high calorie-parathas, so all the effort of slimming down
never succeeds.
