Shashikala was a great actress who used to play lead roles in 1950's movies ...she come in some movies along with dev anand like" jaali note","taxi driver" etc and then she switched over to vamp roles ....if you see CID of Dev anand..she was there in the role of a lady gangster type.....form 60's onwards she started playing Vamp roles like soutali maa or cruel sister in law etc......she gave tough competition to Lalita pawar("The lady who played "Manthara"in Ramanand sagar's ramayan) and became the symbol of cruel VAMP....she used to have an image of "Mother in law" who always did cruel act against her "daughter in law"...

If you have watched "Sonpari" in star plus..there she was granmother of sweeti and recently in movie "Mujhse shadii karongi"...she played there role of Salman khan's mother
