Thanks. I onlylike the second one "Do sitaron.." The first and third old songs are very boring. I rather he sing new songs which are so much more enjoyable like "Rabba Rabba" etc. 😆

Sonu Niigam talks to Shilpa Jamkhandikar about his musical experiments and how he spent a quiet Diwali

MUMBAI: The's sung some of the biggest hits of the year, performed before Bill Gates and Oprah Winfrey and celebrated the birth of his first born. Sonu Niigam certainly finds himself on a high these days, and the singer says he intends to "do more than just spend my entire life in a recording studio."

"There are so many things that I can do besides singing. I have reached a stage in my career where I don't need to sing every song that comes my way. I prefer to choose ten songs that are surefire hits and spend the rest of my time experimenting with my music," Sonu says.

The singer, who recently performed at Harvard University with Bill Gates and Oprah Winfrey in the audiences, says he would also like to increase the number of live shows he does.

"There are more thrills in performing live for me. The kind of quality we give our viewers is unprecedented. When I performed Vaishnav janate in front of Bill Gates, it was such a moment of pride for me, mainly because I was the only Indian performer there."

"Also, when I do live shows all over the world, it fulfils my urge to travel, meet people. I have sung thousands of songs by now, and I don't want to set any kind of a record for the most number of songs or anything like that. I am happy with the kind of work I am doing.

As of now, Sonu is also hard at work at his next album, which he promises will be a real "shocker."

"When people hear the way I have combined western music with classical Indian music, they will be shocked. Even the title of the album, which I can't reveal right now will be a bit of a shock. I will be shooting for the video in December.

On the personal front, the singer spent his first Diwali with his son Nevaan, in a quiet, peaceful way, without the noise pollution or gambling.

"I don't like any noise on Diwali and nor do I like playing cards. We just had a small pooja at home and some friends came over. It was the perfect festival," he adds

Trishkanu3. Great article. I like Sonuji's idea of live performances and music experimentation to bring out the best of different cultures. Yes there is so much more unexplored areas which can add richness in our lives. 😉
