ok, first of all i know i am gonna offend so many people in here, but please hear me out before you decide to attack me!!

I keep arguing with my friend that Debo. didnt deserve to win.. she fights with me everytime and everytime I let her win.. but.. lol.. i hope she reads this.. anyways, getting to the point, why i think he didnt deserve?

If i remember saregama is about choosing the best singer, or in other words the one who sings better than others who enter the contest. Why debo won was not cuz he was better than Himani, or Nhira, or Hemachandra...(or even Vinit, but i dont want to make my friend mad again 😛)..anyways.. he won cuz he got more votes from people.. people who had nothing else to do than sitting in front of computers and clicking on buttons or dialing numbers.. ok this was the rule that one with most votes wins.. but if u see it from a different angle...it was supposed to be the best singer who was to win... i know saregama's system blew (like people could vote more that once..blah blah)..but none of the systems works.. i dont care that he won.. but i believe that he didnt deserve it.. cuz i have seen a lot of contestants who were way ahead of debo. i dont think i need to point out the moment when his own mentor walked away.. he knew debo was gonna kicked out.. he didnt walk away cuz other mentors gave debo. low marks.. cuz everyone knows NOBODY cares what other mentors gave... when it came to voting it was people's personal preference.. so he walked out cuz he knew debo was gone, he didnt believe in debo.... but i feel sorry for people who voted debo and gave him the most votes that week.. really sorry for u... i have no words for you.. im just sorry to know that ppl like u exist..sorry.. but thats what i feel and i have the right to express my feelings.. i am fair.. i am not saying vinit shold have won.. i am saying debo shouldnt have.. cuz there were many who were wayyyy better than debo...

now i am ready to recieve attacks.. come and get some!!

i never did compare debo and vinit.. my point was that there were a lot better people in the contest.. who were more deserving.. no once cares how he was trained.. other(not necessarily vinit) were better PERIOD...

1) Vinit is not classically trained. It makes a HUGE difference because Vinit many a times sings 'Apshruti'.
2) Vinit shouts higher notes, he's flat at lower notes. He has his alaaps etc changed to make them easier (Parda hai parda) or leaves them out altogether (Nain Lad Jaihein).
3) Vinit's voice is still immature and edgy. It isn't a well rounded smooth voice like Debo's, which comes with intense riyaaz
4) Vinit is a sonu mimic. He's sung mainly Sonu's or Rafi's songs, and when he has attempted a different one, he's done miserably. Point in case - Aake Seedhi lagi, Tu Mile Dil Khile (the second one, he forgot the lyrics and went very besura in the antara)

5) Pt. Jasraj, the doyen of indian music, thinks Debojit is better. Debojit won against Vinit in Fame2005, when Pt. Jasraj, Biddu and Chitra were the judges. You wouldn't be questioning Pt. Jasraj's judgement, would you?
6) Vinit never attempted any super-tough songs like Debo's Qawwali. Debo did make a couple of mistakes in the Qawwali, but after that gave a SMASHING performance. His alaaps are majestic, his taans were spot on. That requires a trained flexible gala. And here we have Vinit getting his alaaps altered to suit him.

I am sorry if I offened you with these harsh truths. 😉

Rightly said abhi 👏

another point to be noted. When Vinit sings high notes, he holds the mic away

Deboo was any way trained and had a good voice. So there is nothing wrong if he won. What makes you say that he didnot deserve. He very much deserved it. Didn't you see how he sang in the final rounds. Taking this into consideration, he very well deserved it.

No offense taken. This thread isn't saying anything new. Debojit didn't start out as the best singer - that was Nihira - but he was the best singer left standing. Kudos to him for playing his cards right.

As for the folks who DO say that Vinit should have won and Debojit only won b/c of the NE - well, they are criticizing the same voting system that kept Vinit in the running while eliminating others who were more deserving (Sharib, Nihira, etc.) If this wasn't injustice to Nihira and others, then Debojit's winning wasn't injustice to anyone.

And yes, Debo did start of shakily in the beginning. But he improved tremendously towards the end, and when he sung Ek Chatur Naar which is pant-wetting tough, we knew he was in contention. He had improved superbly.
Debo has always sung songs with a classical edge - Mere Naina Sawan Bhadon (again super tough...3 octaves range required), Aye Zindagi Gale Lagale, Tum Jo Mil Gaye Ho (Madan Mohan - Rafi song, enough said!), Ek Chatur Naar, Yeh Ishq Ishq Hai, Tadap Tadap....

There is versatility...he's sung songs of 18 different singers. Vinit has done 5.

I am sorry if I offened you with these harsh truths. 😉

Abhilash agree with u 100%

Yes nihira was a very good singer, but audience did not vote for her. By the way, music directors know abt music well so they will take her. BTN vinit n debu, debu's voice is more mature than vinit.
