from an NRI - in sadness and shame

I have been an admirer of the Sa Re Ga Ma Pa show for the talent it brought forth and the beauty of music it re-acquainted us with every week. I am therefore shocked to see the ugliness that has been demonstrated over the last few weeks. Especially in the form of the obvious favouritism from mentors like Himesh and the regional jibes.

As someone who lives away from the country this is indeed a sad moment. A disrepect of music from the supposed 'keepers' of the flame. I am aghast that mentors came out more like the goondas and lying dalals in 'Apaharan' rather than music maestros.

The contestants are kids and easily influenced. It is obvious that they have played into the hands of their egoistic mentors.

I strongly believe that music is a soul elevator...a medium to help us converse with God. Their egoistic banter and unsporting attack on a fellow competitor exposed that they do indeed have a long long way to go before they can call themselves singers...worthy of the music they claim to so love.

I hope the parents of these' stars to be' teach them how to be better human beings first. And do really wish that the show's producers scan their mentors before choosing them. We've seen and heard enough!
