i dont think RK or lataji had any problems with mukesh. i had read somewhere that mukesh opted to start acting in films and which is why he didnt do playback for that time period, but when his acting career didnt take off he came back to singing. i will try and search for this information.

also i dont think lataji's voice suits any of the heriones today. she was good at her time but its about time that she stops singing.

ok heres the article i was talking about mukesh acting stint

However life was not always that easy and smooth. Following Awaara's success, Mukesh almost ruined himself when he sidelined his singing career to pursue acting - to try and make it as a singing star. Mashuqa (1953) with Suraiya and Anuraag (1956) with Usha Kiron both sank at the box-office. (He also did a small role as a tangewala enacting his own song - Choti si Zindagani in Aah (1953))

Wizened by the ordeal, Mukesh returned to playback singing only to find that offers had dried up. The situation reached a point that his children Nitin and Ritu were turned out of school as they were unable to pay their fees.

Thanks. And thank God that Mukesh returned to singing.

Kishore da despite being highly talented was not given work by SJ/Madan Mohan & others, those days only singers with extensive training were given work, Kishore da was supported by Burmans only (SD & RD Burman) till he established himself in mainstream singing & that happened in 1974( Bombay to Goa for Amitabhji).

Kishore da used to do play back singing for himself and only for Dev Anand, its only after 1969 from Aradhana onwards he started doing play back singing for other stars

Yes even Aradhana is SD Burman's baby......do you know while making music for this movie Sachinda fell ill and the music was completed by Pancham.

Great article on Sajjad Hussain, adwarakanath ji. I had forgotten that Rustom Sohrab was his composition. Some great sons in that movie.

Question - Kishore at one time was so busy with his acting career that Rafi has sung (at least one) song(s) for him. Do you remember which one(s)?

Do you know Puneet

Pancham was quite interested in acting & Mehmood gave him break in Bhoot Bangla, where he is seen dancing by side of Mehmood himself...hmmm interestingly this was first movie of Pancham as music composer.
Sachinda was damn angry with Pancham, after all he had got him extensively trained in music.
Pancham learnt Sarod when he was only 3yrs old...that too from Ustad Akbar Ali kKhan.
