can you throw some insight on her success in downsouth.

I'm not an authority on music. But Vani Jairam is a class apart and in a league of her own.

Vani Jairam apart from singing for other regional languages did very well in Tamil, Telugu and Kannada film industries. She has won National awards for Tamil and Telugu movies like Apoorva Ragangal, Sankarabharanam respectively to name a few. She did very well in Kannada film industry and many of those songs are superhit and evergreen.

Sinhaji, did Lataji have some kind of clash with Raj Kapoor or Shankar-Jaikishan? I remember that she refused to sing in Raj Kapoor's films for a long time (Mera Naam Joker, Kal Aaj aur Kal) until Bobby I think.

Thanks for the interesting post.

t-series(gulshan kumar) + anuradha paudwal vs. kumar sanu, again here all solo songs of sanu from cassetes of sadak, dil hai ke manta nahi etc. were dubbed by anuradha paudwal and duets of sanu were made solo's of anurada. 😆 😆

t-series + lata ji as well.. this rift was fixed by adnan when lata sang for lucky...

Hmmm: see what I found from google:
Raj Kapoor on Lataji:
RAJ KAPOOR (actor/director):
Jis ke gale mein khud swayam Saraswati baithi ho. Jiske man mein, Uske dhayan mein Manoranjan ki taraf hi nahin , ha Gan to hain, Sangeet to hain, Shastra hain, Kala hain. Vo ek dharam samajhkar apne Desh aur apne Desh-vasiyon mein jitne peedith tusharthi hain unki sewa mein lagi hain.

Main dhanya hoon ki saans hain, jaan hain aur Inse yeh kah sakta hoon ki Sun Sahiba Sun, Pyar ki dhun, Maine Tujhe Chun liya tu bhi Mujhe Chun.

Im refering this Q to surpremi, he claims he is from Kapoor Khandaan, if he doesn't give right answer we will kill him..........😆

many thanks for visiting...as far as I know she didnt have any clash with RK...

Another interested story is Lata played very bad politics to be on the top, she harrased several singers who wanted to make career in mumbai by sending goons to VANI JAYARAM's apartments and throwing their belongings out one such singer is, I was her neghbor in Bandra (W) and am the witness.

vani jayaram packed her bags and left to chennai the next morning train.

With all due respect and worship to Lataji, She always had prblems with someone or the other. She and Mukesh too had some rift, that is why, Mannada got to sing all songs in Shree 420 and Chori Chori. She had also a rift with Shankar using Sharda for thier songs. She had that royalty war with Rafi. Nobody has a bad word to say about Rafi, but Lataji never goes out of her way to praise him notice 😆 In his time, Naushad was the most successful MD, but his contemporaries never, never said anything positive about him. So many times they even refuse to name him as thier contemporary.Op used Rafi for all his songs and they gave several all time hits. But once when Rfai was late for his recording, he said I was recording for some other MD. Op's ego was hurt and he never worked eith Rafi later. 😡 I think we lost one of the best jodi there. 😭 😭 😭 Only that person survives who can be political along with being talented. Poor Nihira and Id have a long way to go. 😭

shethebest and NS:

Artists, especially, music writers, directors and singers have been very sensitive people. Very moody. Very hard to work with. I remember from very early days when Anand Bakshi would be over for drinks (and he was not even known writer then), he would be very sensitive and leave at first argument that occurred. I sat and heard him do shairi until he would just abruptly leave.

There have been times when singers have said "Aaj cancel – mood nahin ban raha hai". So emotions, egoes, etc. play a very big role in their lives – too little self discipline. I guess it goes with the territory. ID portrayed just that recently. I was not surprised at all. Been there, seen it a million times. If you were in Latajee's shoes, with all the fame, fan following, it would be hard to control your ego too.

The best I remember RK had no rift with Latajee. RK knew very well what I wrote above. so he was overly tuned to making sure his artistes were happy and he would please them always. In fact, Satyam Shivam Sundaram was made by RK as a tribute to Latajee. Great voice and yet not so great looker!!

SO that would be the briefest answer I can give. No wonder I became an Engineer – no artist giri here.
