Chapter-3

The sun's rays shone into the newly married couples' room indicating a new day. Surbhi stirred a little bit and slowly opened her eyes. The first thing she saw was Abhay's peaceful face deep in sleep. She gave a little sigh and got up to take a shower. After 15 minutes she walked out of the bathroom drying her hair with a towel when she saw that Abhay was sitting on his bed fully awake.

Surbhi : good morning
Abhay just gave her an angry look and walked passed her into the bathroom. Surbhi looked down in sadness, but before Abhay closed the door to the bathroom he called out her name softly.

Abhay: Surbhi 'he said looking over his shoulder, he then turned to face her.'
Surbhi was waiting for him to speak….a small smile came to her lips but it was soon gone when Abhay finally spoke.
Abhay: you took too long in the bathroom…I want you out of my way at all times…especially in the morning because I need my shower. 'and he closed the door on her face.'
Surbhi turned around and look at their wedding picture sadly…a lone tear escaped the side of her eye. She wiped it away and started picking up her bedding and soon she was making Abhay's bed.

Abhay suddenly came out of the bathroom only in a towel. Surbhi looked up at him and quickly turned around looking the other way, her face turning red. Abhay raised an eyebrow at her shyness, but dismissed her and started to get ready for work. Soon they both went down together to meet the rest of the family for breakfast.

Abhay: good morning everybody
Markandya: good morning son…good morning Surbhi beta
Pushpa: good morning bachi…did you sleep well last night?
Surbhi: yes mumiji.
They all sit down and Vishal comes.
Vishal: hey bro 'he touches his fist with Abhay's good morning everybody. Hi babhi.
He smiles and Surbhi smiles back.
Vishal: hai babhi…your million dollar smile makes the day much more brighter.
Surbhi blushes at the compliment and Vishal sees this.
Vishal: oy hoy…babhi sherma gayi.
Surbhi hits him lightly on his head.
Surbhi: badmaash.
Everyone in the table laughs except for Abhay.
They all eat breakfast and Abhay leaves for work. As soon as he gets in his car he realizes that he forgot his wallet, like always. He walks back to the house and is about to open the door when Surbhi opens it from inside. Abhay gives her a confused look.
Surbhi: ji woh….aap ki wallet. 'and she holds it out for him'
Abhay looks at her and takes his wallet without breaking eye contact.

The whole day passed by for Abhay with meetings and for Surbhi just getting used to her new life. Finally the time came for Abhay to come home. Surbhi was reading a book in her room when she heard Abhay walk in. she looked up at him for a moment and their eyes met. Abhay then changed from his suit to something more casual and without saying anything to Surbhi walked out. Surbhi's curiosity got the best of her and she went to look out the window and saw Abhay's car drive off.

It's about 2 a.m now and everybody in the house was fast asleep except for Surbhi. She was pacing around the room thinking: 'it's so late….where could Abhay be.' Then she heard a car come up the driveway and she let out a breath in relief knowing that Abhay was home safe. But when she saw Abhay come into the room she felt a piercing pain in her heart for the sight in front of her. There was Abhay, with his hand around the waist of a girl with a dangerously short skirt. Abhay saw Surbhi and gave her a smirk.

Abhay: Surbhi go sleep in the outhouse for tonight... 'he looked at the girl next to him and grinned' I'm gonna need the room all to myself tonight.
The girl: who is she Abhay?
Abhay: that sweatheart….is no one important. 'to Surbhi': didn't you hear what I told you…go from here.

Surbhi lowered her gaze to the ground to hide the tears forming in her eyes. She started walking and stopped for a little bit next to Abhay, looking at him. Abhay had an irritated look on his face, but when he saw Surbhi's sad eyes he couldn't help but feel a little guilty. Surbhi quietly walked out of the room and heard the door close behind her.
