Part 10:
Asad spent the next two days in his room only, he wasn't allowed to drink a glass of water on his own, he wasn't that much injured but he loved the way his family was concerned for him, specially Zoya...
Sometimes, Asad used to irritate her to the core, he loved seeing her in dominant role, in fact he found her cuter when she got angry over silly things, in other words, Asad was enjoying being unwell...
On the other hand, Zoya was trying her best to be in control, her mind was stuck to that mystery guy only, she didn't knew whether she did the right or wrong, she wasn't going to leave Asad, at any cost, but she was worried for his safety too...
Asad felt something was up with Zoya, he tried to talk to her but she didn't tell him the truth, he too thought maybe he was over thinking, so he kept that topic aside...
DC was winning the award of best construction company from last 4 years, it may turn out their 5th time after all Khans were the strongest contender of Bhopal, Rashid decided to retire as he wanted to see Asad working as Managing Director of his company... when he broke the news to his family, happiness knew no bound, all were happy for Asad, no doubt he was already giving his best to their company but MD was a cherry on top...
Khans decided to throw a party right after the award function and in order to double up their happiness, they were going to introduce Asad and Zoya as man and wife, it was going to be their success party plus AsYa's reception party...
The news of Asad Ahmad Khan going to be the Managing Director of DC broke out all over the country, experienced businessmen and associates were coming to attend the function and to congratulate him, it was going to be the biggest day for him...
Zoya was in her room, all the family members were already at venue, she was running late because of Asad only who took forever in getting ready after all it was his day so he had all the rights to do so... Zoya smiled at her own thoughts, she was blaming and defending Asad on her own, she came out of her trance as Asad hugged her from behind...
Asad: someone is looking beautiful... he complimented her and pulled her closer...
Zoya: only beautiful... she leaned on him...
Asad: hmm actually more than that... he whispered dropping a kiss on her shoulder...
Zoya: control Mr. Khan, we have a party ahead... she faced him...
Asad: so what, that's my party, we can be late... he said winking at her...
Zoya: sounds good but you can romance later, now let's go, all must be waiting for us...
Asad: that's so unromantic Mrs. Khan... he pouted...
Zoya: I'll make up to you... she pecked his lips...
Asad: promise... he grinned...
Zoya: pakka promise...
Asad: that's like my girl... saying so he claimed her lips and sealed the deal...
Later Asad and Zoya reached the venue, Asad joined his father in VVIP section while Zoya joined her family members in VIP section...
The function was going well, some honorable business tycoons shared their experience, some gave tips to the young businessmen, Zoya and Khan Sisters got bored as it was pure business party, they had never attended such functions, they used to celebrate success party of DC at home only, with their family and friends, that was total new for them, but they give it a go just for Asad's sake...
Without delaying further, the award ceremony started and as expected DC won the award for the best construction company, Rashid took some steps towards the stage but stopped and looked at his son...
Rashid: come on Asad, let's go...
Asad: no dad, it's your turn, now you go, I'll collect it next year... he winked at his dad...
Rashid: yeah, but today I want my son with me...
Asad: you sure, you want to share the credit... he teased him...
Rashid: will you come, or I should take Ayan...
Asad: coming dad...
Asad and Rashid made their way towards the stage while their family and the other guests clapped for them, news reporters captured the precious moment where father-son received the award together... Asad hugged his father and congratulated him, then he took the award from him as Rashid took some steps towards the dice where he was going to say few words...
Zoya along with her family cheered up her dost, Rashid didn't take much long, he thanked Allah for blessing him with this much success, then he thanked the honorable jury for honoring him for the 5th time, he looked towards his family and joked on saying they will get bore hearing such things, so without wasting more time, he announced Asad, the new Managing Director of DC...
Asad smiled widely as his father approached him, gave him the official paper and held his hand out for a proper handshake which Asad obliged happily...
On the other hand, Zoya's cell phone started ringing, she ignored it at first but the continuous rings irritated her, having no other option she took the call...
Zoya: hello...
Guy: hello Mrs. Khan...
Zoya gasped in horror hearing the voice of mystery guy, fear gripped over her, she took some steps away from her family...
Zoya: y... you... what you want???
Guy: you know what exactly I want... he replied calmly...
Zoya: I'm not going anywhere, do you get that... she said mustering the much needed courage...
Guy: is that your final decision???
Zoya: listen, I don't have enough time to waste, you better save it for the next time...
Zoya was about to cut the call when the mystery guy spoke...
Guy: turn to your left, Asad is looking at you only...
Zoya immediately turned and saw Asad looking at her only, tears brimmed in her eyes as it clicked her that the mystery guy was there only, she got worried for Asad...
Zoya: wh... where are you...
Guy: wrong question, you should ask what I can do...
Zoya: what do you mean???
Guy: let the countdown begin Mrs. Khan...
Zoya: huh...
Zoya looked here and there worriedly, she knew something was going to happen, she looked towards Asad who was answering some questions asked by the news reporters...
Guy: three...
Zoya: what the hell do you want, just go away from our lives...
Guy: two...
Zoya: if Asad came to know about this, he will kill you, do you hear me, he will kill you...

Zoya immediately looked at Asad who was standing with a content smile on his face, Asad too looked back at her, both shared an eye lock, but the mystery guy broke their moment...
Guy: it's indeed the biggest day for you and Asad... saying so he cut the call...
Asad got worried as he found Zoya lost somewhere, he excused himself and headed towards her while Zoya forgot to react, she didn't knew what that mystery guy wanted to say before she can think further she saw Asad coming towards her...

Zoya sighed in relief, he was safe and sound, he was just before her eyes, she didn't knew whether she was taking that mystery guy lightly or not, all she knew that she can't live without Asad, she decided to tell him about those calls as soon as possible, but right now she was worried for his safety, she ran towards him but stopped in her tracks as she heard the sound of gunshot...

Asad was on his way to VIP section when someone shot him and he stopped dead in his tracks, he felt a sharp pain in left side of his chest, he placed his shaking hand on his heart and felt blood oozing out of his wound, his eyes grew wider seeing blood on his hand...

Zoya was rooted to her spot, she missed several heartbeats seeing blood on his hand, color drained out of her face, she forgot to move, she forgot to think, she forgot to react, she even forgot to blink her eyes... she wanted to shout, yell or scream as Asad fell on the floor and passed out but nothing came out of her throat, she knew only one thing that she was the SOLE reason behind his present condition...

As soon Asad fell, everyone rushed towards him, all were beyond shock, Dilshad started crying while Rashid was trying to console his wife as it was not the time to sit and cry... news reporters were busy covering the whole incident while the guests were running here and there in panic, Haider and Ayan had already called the ambulance but seeing Asad's condition they took him to the hospital in their own car...
It was a police case so doctors refuse to admit Asad, luckily police arrived before Ayan and Haider's outburst at the doctors, soon Asad was taken in the operation theater... Dilshad, Rashid, Anwer, Zeenat, Khan Siblings and Haider, all were there, they still can't believe what exactly had happened, everything was going well then suddenly Asad was being attacked... police took their statements and left to investigate the venue...
Asad was in OT from 45 minutes, all were praying for him, a nurse came out of the operation theater and told that Asad needed blood, fortunately Asad and Ayan shared the same blood group, so Ayan left with the nurse...
Haider was handling the reporters outside the hospital, he had shouted at them for being cold-blooded, Asad was in the OT and media just wanted to make money by selling such breaking news... after taking out all of his frustration, he came back inside and joined his family, suddenly he remembered something, he looked here and there and soon an unknown fear gripped over him...
Haider: where is Chutki???
All shot up their heads in utter shock, Zoya wasn't there and no one had noticed it before, without wasting a minute, Haider rushed back to the venue...
Zoya was still standing at her spot only, tears were rolling down her cheeks, she had seen how her family took Asad to the hospital, she too wanted to be with him but she didn't reacted to the situation, the sound of gunshot and the scene of Asad lying in the pools of blood was playing in her mind again and again, she was lost in her own world when someone placed a hand on her shoulder and she came to earth... she blinked her eyes and looked here and there, it clicked her again what had happened, she started crying bitterly and ran from there, she had taken some steps when someone called her from behind...
Guy: Zoya Asad Ahmad Khan!!!
Zoya stopped, she recognized that voice, how can she not, after all he was the same mystery guy who had turned her world upside down in a few minutes... when Zoya didn't turned, he himself came to her...
Guy: I had warned you again and again, but you didn't listen, now see Asad's life is in danger just because of YOU...
Zoya closed her eyes and tears made their way, he was right, she was at fault, she had been warned but she didn't bother to take it seriously...
Guy: what happened Zoya, ro rahi ho, par kyun, tum toh Asad se bohat pyaar karti thi, tum Asad se door nahi jana chahti thi, is liye toh mene Asad ko hi door bhej dia...
Zoya: why are you doing this, kya milega tumhe yeh sab kar ke???
Guy: ab kya faida, tum ne Asad ke sath acha nahi kiya Zoya, what was his fault, how can you let your own husband die just because you wanted to live with him??? How you can be this selfish Zoya, kaha tha na Asad se door chali jao,lekin nahi, tum par pyaar ka bhoot sawar tha... you were not ready to go away from him, now he is going away from you, that too for forever...
Zoya: yeh... yeh sach nahi hai...
Guy: yehi sach hai Zoya, yaqeen nahi aata toh khud ja kar dekho, your Asad is fighting for his life, go and spend some last moments with him, GO...
Zoya wiped her tears and turned to go but that mystery guy stopped her again...
Guy: but there is a problem Zoya...
Zoya looked at him in confusion, firstly because of her Asad had been shot, secondly this guy was not letting her go...
Guy: you had already saved Asad once, but this time I had shot him that too on his heart, there is no chance he will survive...
Zoya gasped in horror, she covered her face with her hands and fresh tears brimmed in her eyes, what she had done to him, what if something, no no, she can't even thought anything like that...
Guy: but for a change if Asad survives, then for the next time I'll make sure he die right on the spot... he continued...
Zoya folded her hands in front of him and begged while tears kept rolling down her cheeks...
Zoya: please don't do this, don't harm Asad, I'll do whatever you say but please let Asad live, please let him live, please... she cried...
Guy: think again Zoya, if you want him alive, then you have to go away from him...
Zoya: I'll... I'll do whatever you will say, main Asad se bohat door chali jaongi, but please don't hurt him, please... she replied without even thinking for once...
Guy: okay then go away Zoya, go away from Asad's life...
Zoya stood there crying, she didn't know whether she was right or wrong, all she knew that she have to save Asad, his life was in danger because of her, and now she was going away from him so that he can live at least, she just wanted him safe and sound, she can't put his life in danger again, she wiped her tears as she decided to leave him for his safety only...
Some minutes later, Haider reached the venue, he looked for Zoya everywhere but she wasn't there, fear took over him, Asad was already in OT and Zoya was missing, feeling helpless he came back and drop the bomb on everyone...
Zoya was in Khan Mansion, she locked up herself in their room, hers and Asad's room, she sat on his side of the bed, she picked up his pillow and hugged it, she cried and cried...

On the other hand, Asad was fighting for his life, doctors were trying their level best to save his life... outside the operation theatre, Khans and Farooquis were hell worried, their son was in the lap of death while their daughter was missing, they didn't get what the hell was happening, their happiness turned into sorrows in some minutes only, they don't even knew what they were going to do, in fact they can't even do anything except praying for their kids...

Zoya kept the letter on the side table so that Asad can find and read it easily, she packed her bags and after sparing a glance over her room for the last time she left...

After struggling for almost 4 hours Asad came back to life, it was indeed the biggest day of his life, he had almost lost his life but Allah wanted something else for him that's why he was the man of miracle whose actual heart resided on the right side, not on the left side like normal people, he may have won the battle of life but lost the one in love after all Zoya was gone...
