""I am glad they have shown Zoya as liberal! It makes non Muslims like me respect Islam more! ""

I am not with u in this point at all
U CAN say

I am glad they have shown Zoya as liberal! It makes people like me respect Zoya

Not islam , because what zoya did actually is forbbiden in islam
And zoya is not a muslim girl , this is the truth
I know Many muslim girls do wear miniskirt and do everything everything
But as a person i respect them and they are free to do what they want
But but if we talk about islam so i am sorry dude they are muslims just in name , because to be muslim u should Apply islam rules and zoya didnt Apply at all what islam say

Wow I'm really shocked by some of the comments here. It doesn't matter if the show is based in India or the Middle East - Islam is the same everywhere. Yes, to be Muslim all you really need to do is believe in Allah but there are also certain rules you must follow. I realize that plenty of Muslims girls don't cover themselves but that doesn't change the fact that modesty is a very important part of faith in Islam. There's a lot of things that Muslims do which Islam doesn't permit. There are Muslims that drink alcohol too, does that mean that it's ok to do so?

Zoya lives in a conservative household where both men AND women are discouraged from doing anything which Islam doesn't allow. Therefore the outrage at her wearing a mini skirt to me makes complete sense.

Anyway I'm not really surprised that the mini-skirt issue was brought up and that Zoya will now convince everyone that there is nothing wrong in dressing the way she does. Indian television and movies usually tend to show things which aren't permissible in Islam in a positive light in order to show Muslims how to be "liberal." QH doesn't really represent Islam very much anyway, besides the fact that the characters say salaam and pray once in a million years.

To be a Muslim, one need to believe in Allah and follow the commandments of Allah as well. One of Allah's commands is to dress modestly - that skirt was not modest. There are a lot of modern Muslims who wear dresses and skirts and jeans, but they wear them so their bodies are covered. I love wearing skirts and dresses, but I make sure that they are long skirts and dresses, and yes I am a Muslim from the USA. You aren't considered 'modern' based on how revealing your clothes are.

Yes, just as clothes don't reflect how modern a person is, similarly if someone wears a mini-skirt it doesn't translate into she doesn't know what 'Islam' means. I grew up in a very conservative Muslim family, yet now I live in US and I wear whatever I want to wear including skirts that are sometimes knee-length or even shorter. Just as I have strong religious faith, at the same time I believe I have the right to wear whatever i want. I believe each person has his/her own equation with the creator (if he or she believes in one) and no one should judge others for their personal beliefs.

You have the right to wear whatever you want and I in no way think that you or Zoya's character or your level of faith should be determined by how you dress. However the fact remains that Islam is very specific on what a woman can and can't wear. Therefore I think that a supposedly Muslim based show should reflect the teachings of Islam rather than the CV's own understanding on what's right and what's wrong.

I agree that she is a good person but ones actions represent their thoughts ... I have no problem with jeans and long sleeve shirts coz according to Islam one has to cover themselves completely with wht it's ur Choice shalwar kameez or jeans ... Mini skirt is a limit and by the way not all Muslims is America wear mini skirts ... I live in Chicago and I wear jeans all the time but I think even capris is inappropriate

Well DMG showed tht the hospital had a Moorti as well and people use to pray in front of it ... Will they show that here as well? Saying modern Muslims don't mind having moorties? Avoiding tht it's considered shirk in Islam (an unforgivable sin)?

All I m saying is there is a fine line between good and bad, right and wrong and we tend to overlook it all the time

Qabool Hain is a Muslim based show and its Muslim characters are as diverse as ppl are in real life. Most of the women here are fully covered, Zoya being the only exception in the skirt incidence. No where has it been mentioned that Qabool hai is about teachings of Islam, which in my opinion again can be open to interpretation. But, I also know there are Muslims who follow the rules in the strictest sense, while others have their own interpretation. My Dadi and my mom are two of the most religious women I know who have very strong faith in Allah and are very religious, but at the same time wore sarees their entire life. In fact many ppl in south east Asia wear sarees which as you know doesn't fully cover a person. So, Ppl do have have their own interpretations of Islam and sometimes it is influenced by cultural beliefs. I know hundreds of thousands of muslim women who doesn't follow what Islam says how Muslim women should dress or do in the strictest sense, but they definitely do represent Muslim women (just think about women who were sarees). In fact, I think in QH these women are under represented.

I partially agree, sure in Islam you're not supposed to walk around in short skirts or clothes that attracts the opposite sex. But at the same time I get Zoya as well, sure I think the skirt might have been a bit to short to wear without anything under but that's the point here, it was suppose to be really short because of the story line, and a lot of Muslim girls here in Europe or in America were skirts and dresses that are short, even I do, but that doesn't define my character nor does it give me or any other girl the tag of being bad Muslim girls, unless you go to far of course😛😛
Religion is something that's in you heart, and that's what the show was trying to tell us
and the part of her just wearing it to show Nazma, she clearly stated that she used to wear it in the US 😛 But as I said you have to look at the context and pass the size of the skirt.. 😆😆
