Sorry for the late update, a few more fillers and then will get back to the track.

Chapter 16

Zoya wakes up in the morning and rubs her hands on her eyes when she feels the band in her finger. She gazes at it, tracing her index finger on it gently. All the memories from the last night start flashing in her mind. She smiles beautifully.

The ring was a little loose. May be she had lost too much weight. Her smile slowly starts fading as other incidents from her life start flashing in her eyes, the accident, coma, her father'.FATHER.

She sits straight with a jerk, breathing heavily, her state precarious. She reaches out for the glass on the side table with her trembling hands. She brings it near her mouth, gulps down some but to no use, she starts putting it back but in the process her grip loosens and the glass lands on the floor, breaking in to pieces.

Asad while coming out of his room hears the nose and rushes towards Zoya's room so does Najma who was climbing down the stairs. They enter the room to find her gasping for air. Both rush towards her. Asad sits beside her restlessly.

"What happened?" he asks anxiously.

She tries speaking but remains unable.

"Najma go bring her medicines and water." Asad orders.

"Gee Bhai Jaan." She leaves all panicky at Zoya's condition.

Asad wraps his arms around her trying to calm her down.

"Relax'relax..Everything is fine."

After a while her breathing levels a little but she still sobs. She hugs him half in pain. He tightens his grip.

"Everything is fine. You are okay. Just calm down now."

"No'Noh'Nothing is fine."

She whispers still weeping.

"Why do you say that?" he asks perplexed.

Najma enters with her medicines. Asad makes her take them as her hands still tremble. She was quite normal now. She rests her head on Asad's shoulder as she feels a lot more weak and exhausted.

"Bhai Jaan I think we should call the doctor." Najma offers.

"Yeah 'go ahead."

Zoya interrupts.

"No I am fine'there is no need to call the doctor."

"You are not fine. Najma go call the doctor."

"Sure." She leaves in a haste.

Zoya sits silently there her mind lost in thoughts. 'Is it his presence only which makes me feel better, more strong, more safe, more at ease.'

"What happened?"

"I don't know." She lied.

Asad closes his eyes. He knew there was soething bothering her but was unable to understand what stopped her from telling him. Also he knew he couldn't force her right now, not under these circumstances, not in this condition of hers.

"I guess suffocation." She added.

"You wanna come out?" He offers.

She nods. "Fine." Asad carries her tenderly in his arms and brings her out in the living room.

He makes her sit on the couch. Najma is also there watching them smiling to herself at the same time. Even though they had not announced their commitment in public yet it was so clear to everyone.

"I've called the doctor Bhai Jaan. He will be here in a while. And yeah Zoya ki Appi, jeeju and Ammi kuch rishtey daron se milnay gaye hain. They wont be back before evening. Aap office chale jain. I will stay back with Zoya."

He nids, hesitates for a while but eventually says,

"Tamater, you are nearing your finals na, so you should'nt miss college these days. I don't have much work today sooo I will stay back home."

Najma smiles, of course privacy is all love birds ask for. She leaves without delay.

Asad slumps on the couch beside Zoya.

"Eat something."

"Don't feel like."

He shakes his head, "You never feel like doing the right thing at the right time."

"Bear with that."

"You don't leave me an option. Do you?"

"No." she shakes her head. He heads for the dinning table and pours a glass of milk.

"Milk?" she makes a face.

"Of course, what do you want a soda drink?"

She nods. He rolls his eyes.

"Now..take this."

"No please I dnt take raw milk."

"Take it or I will make you."

She gives him an incredulous look, he glares back. She wrinkles her nose but takes the glass from him.

"Good'now I need to make some call."

"To?"

"Sorry?"

"To? I asked."

"Don't worry I don't have her no."

She makes a sick face.

"I wasn't talking about her either."

"Then?"

"I just wanted to know'.how long is it gonna take ya."

He keeps silent for a while thinking something. "It wont take long."

He assures her.

"Fine."

"And I don't want to see a drop in that thing on my return."

"Yes boss." She said indolently. He leaves.

She finishes the glass in her hand before her mind drifts away again.

'I know I cant hide it from you for long, I don't know what is it I fear? Why cant I express myself to you? It wasn't so difficult ever. But right now I cant even decide for myself.'

Asad was back sooner than she expected. He sits beside her, she stares at him.

"What?" He asks.

"Nothing." she shrugs and again rests her head on his shoulder.

"I will never take care of myself." She says conveniently closing her eyes.

He frowns. "Why so?"

"Because I have you to take care of me."

"Then who will take care of me?"

"I of course."

"Thats acceptable then."

Both smile and land into silence.

"I never knew this side of you existed too."

"Neither did i."

"Really? Then how did you discover it?"

"It was born the day I saw you'..but took little longer for me to accept it."

"Then this mutuality? Was it so obvious? How did you know my feelings for you?"

He smirks. "God told me!"

"How?" she asks in confusion, then it dawns on her that he must have heard her conservation with the damn nurse. She looks at him in disbelief.

"Don't tell me it was only yesterday?"

"it was indeed."

"You are so clever."

"No I am not'.if I were I would have done it long time back but then i had no fears unlike now'.now I had a fear of losing you'. I thought you wont forgive me so easily, but you did, I thought if my dumb luck is being so generous why don't I try my luck here."

She laughs. "these words look so impossible coming out of your mouth."

Asad smiles but keeps silent. A while passes. He feels the warmth of her lips on his collar bone. This time his heart accelerates but being a guy he couldn't blush.

"I love you Mr. Khan."

His ears drum with her crystal clear voice. These words were magic, music to his ears, sweet as sugar and everything nice. Pure as a melody, pure as one wants to be. They propelled his entire existence. The girl in his arms had an invincible ability to arouse emotions in him. That one moment he felt bessed to be with her.

He turns his head towards her and absorbs her gaze into his own.

"Can you say that again?" he whispers.

"Not if you stare like that."

He laughs breaking the eye lock.

"You are impossible Zoya."

She laughs back. "You can still reconsider Mr. Khan."

"I have taken all the time to reconsider, you are a part of me now. I cant just let you go. I cant lie to myself that its easy for me to live without you, because its not and I have died with it every day for the past two years."

"Even if anything happens?"

"Anything?"

HE entwines his fingers with hers, Zoya out of emotions starts weeping.

"Not again'.. how will I ever know when you are happy or not? You are always crying."

She smiles between her tears and punches him on his biceps.

"Mr. Khan I need to tell you something."

He sighs. " finally."

"Wait'you weren't doing all this just to know what i was hiding."

"What if I say yes.?"

"I will never tell you." She beamed.

"Okay fine no, I didn't do all this just to know what you are keeping from telling me'now will you tell me?"

"Fine." She says nervously taking in a long breath.

"Where to start?"

"Start from the beginning."

She sighs.

"Fine'that day'when I came to you to tell you about'.i mean the day I had that accident'." She pauses. Its so difficult to mention the day when nothing good happened to you.

Something flashes in Asad's eyes, he manages to hold it back.

"That day I met a man who told me about my'"

Before Zoya could complete, the doorbell rings and she sighs in disappointment.

Asad gives her an apologetic look, "I guess it's the doctor. I will go check." He sighs and leaves unwillingly.

Zoya sighs heavily pressing her forehead.
"This anit gonna be easy." She shakes her head in frustration.

God, I am so in love with the romance they are having between one other. I always wanted to see something like this. I don't know whether we will get this for real or not. But, you are making my wishes to come true through this. I love this asad, who for once has kept all his insecurities aside or to be precise thrown his insecurities out of the window and is concentrating on his love.
