Surbhi Tiwari isn't the coy girl everyone thinks she is

Though Surbhi Tiwari became famous as the homely-girl in Star Plus' Shagun and has been offered similar roles ever since, she doesn't identify with the characters she has played. Surbhi says she is quite adventurous by nature. "I love driving and am an absolute party animal. I am not a behenji at all," she says adding, "I am sure my audience will be quite surprised if they get to know that the coy, demure girl that they see on screen loves adventure sports, they will be very surprised." But Surbhi admits that she doesn't mind playing a 'gharelu type' woman on screen. "That's a challenge, because I am not anything like that. I was really pleased that people liked me so much in Shagun," she says.
Surbhi, who has done a few serials has been rejecting many offers because of the kind of roles that have been offered to her. "The current trend is that unless you are in your teens, you can't play a young girl. If you are in your 20s you are simply asked to play a mother's roles," she complains. And that was a hurdle Surbhi faced after Shagun, which had a generation leap. Surbhi played mother to kids her age and was offered similar roles once the serial ended. So, why didn't she quit the serial? "I felt zimmedar for the serial. I was the main protagonist and I don't know what would have happened to the serial had I quit," she says. But the promos of Kulvaddhu that will be telecast on Sony also show her in a very bahu kind of a avataar? "Yes, I can't reveal much about the role, but it will be an interesting role," says Surbhi. Besides Kulvaddhu, Surbhi is also acting in Hari Mirchi Lal Mirchi and will also do a cameo in Aroona Irani's
Doli Saja Ke. "Arunaji had asked me to choose between two roles in the serial, but I was tied up with other commitments, but I wanted to work with her production house. So, I asked her for a small part. And she offered me this one. I am sure I'll do more serials with her," says Surbhi.
