After watching the episode and looking at a lot of the forum discussions, i was wondering what is the general consensus...
Putting aside the reasons for why SAJA rishta is broken, I just wanted to ask the forum members; if a boy or a girl, after being enganged decides that their partner is not right for them, and says so, is that really a betrayal?

I don't think it's a betrayal. It's just being honest and sparing oneself and the other person and both families future misery and complications.

I guess the "betrayal" aspect arises in this case because the Shekhars felt they relied on/trusted Jagya and he has pulled a 180 on them.

The whole parivaar is mourning that their darling daughter's ristha is broken and her life is ruined. What they are missing is she is saved from an unhappy marriage which is so much harder to break. Right now, she is still unmarried and has a better chance at marrying someone else and living happily (I doubt that about Sanchi, but whatever). They should be happy that their daughter escaped!

that's my thinking too...yeah the timing is always unfortunate if it happens after engagement, and yes its embarrassing...but its not a betrayal...
betrayal would be marrying the person knowing that neither one of you would be happy and then cheating on each other, either physically or emotionally because of that...

i even do not say that jagya breaking mariage with sanchi is betrayal .indeed it was not betrayal because he break his rishta with sanchi properly .i was just saying in general term without properly breaking first rishta and get into second rishta that is called betrayal . in case of anandi he did not break marriage with anandi properly and get married to gauri that is indeed call betrayal

Actually the period between engagement and wedding is the perfect time to get to know the prospective partners properly and if you find something lacking or there is incompatibility then its the right time to break it off before the wedding. No way should it be seen as a betrayal. Might as well put an end to it then rather than going ahead with the marriage knowing that it'll be unhappy. Now that would be a betrayal.
