Loved both Rishbala and Sulbala. I refuse to choose between them as I watch MB as a whole and not for one particular pair.

Totally agree with all you've written...it is really hard for me to stomach how RK treated Madhubala over and over again. I don't know if that is something that can be forgotten or forgiven.I totally get your post Abby. please continue making such positive posts. It promotes healthy discussion.
I must admit that I have a soft spot for Sulbala, but that doesn't mean that I dislike RK. In fact, I like his flawed character. But it is also true that I cringed the way he treated Madhubala. In fact, when we were going thru those days of "madhubala torture by RK" episodes, I was telling myself that it is better not to be loved, if this is the way one shows his love. I agree, he has been nice to her too, but no amount of "niceness" can compensate for the humiliation he has put madhubala through.I can see his conflict now. I can also see his junoon. However, I have no sympathy for him at this point. If at some point, the story moves such that, a viewer like me can sympathize again with him, then I am all for that track. If Sultan is the necessary catalyst to reach that end result, I am okay with it too.BUT, at this point, I am floored by Sultan- Madhu's bonding. The beauty at the moment is that they really have no relationship, yet they are bound by "something". Sultan's characterization is awesome. Tough from the outside, but emotional from the inside. it is clear that Madhu cares for him at some level. her protective instinct does come out strong for him too. She lied/fought with her mom to keep Sultan in the chawl. She does care for Aryan a lot, but at some level it encompasses Sultan too. At least, that is what I have seen in the past two weeks. This became a bit long, but I hope you read it😊
