*Note that there are spoilers ahead. If you are planning to watch the film dont read further*
I am yet to post my review and I liked the film. But the maha last heist planned by Ajju/Ajay(Akshay) in Special 26...was it possible? Its obvious that he had his plan in place right from the time they looted the Minister. The success of his plan depended on how convincing Ranveer(Jimmy) was to the Minister and CBI. We know there is a lot of procedure involed in handing over a case to CBI. But here we see Ranveer walking into the CBI office and the CBI taking up the case out of turn. What more they dont even do a basic background check on a police officer who claims to be suspended. Instead they involve him in the investigation and the whole plan to trap Ajju.
And when the day of heist arrives and time passes by without the gang of four arriving the CBI officers all stand around waiting for them. CBI also has two of their officers among the Special 26. How come they dont get down and inform their seniors that PK Sharma has diverted from the plan and gone out of the bus? And when Wasim doesnt see PK sharma in the bus he doesnt suspect something was amiss?
I know we accept lots of stupid stuff in movies. But Special 26 is supposed to be an intelligent as well as entertaining film hence the questions.

I think they didn't do a background check or anything since it was an unofficial case. The only test Wasim Khan made him go through was why he wanted to catch them. It seems he was convincing in his, "oh he humiliated me" act. It does seem odd though. Maybe this was their way of showing how there were no checks back in the 80s and people just believed in your uniform.

Didn't Wasim Khan give them strict orders as to stay in the van and do as the rest of the officers do? I'm not sure, but I thought he did.

One of my favorite scenes was when his boss is giving Wasim the case and he just asks if he should start taking bribes since he's not being promoted.

...even I was wondering why the 2 CBI officers didn't inform Wasim right away that PK Sharma has diverted from the plan and gotten off the bus. After all, Wasim did warn PK against doing anything wrong because he would know right away. I'd assume even in the '80's, they would have some way to contact their superior officer if need be. It made CBI look dumb.

I think in general all big heists have a level of preposterousness in them (did you hear about the Brussels Airport Diamond Heist that just happened a few days back?)...but I guess, in intelligent films, it stands out a little bit more. Come to think of it, it is weird that CBI didn't investigate Ranveer's story and just went with the evidence he brought, especially someone as smart as Wasim was shown to be.

This is why I preferred A Wednesday to Special 26. The former was a far more taut thriller with fewer loopholes.

That was a great way to ask for a raise. Everyone should try it. 😆
Btw Manoj Bajpayee's performance was simply outstanding. He simply chewed everyone alive.

I didn't even realize no one followed Ajju to see where he was going and to see if everything was going according to plan 😆 Wow, this CBI team was really stupid.

I loved Wasim's way of asking for a raise too 😆 Manoj Bajpai and Anupam Kher were the life of the film for me.

When the plan was unravelling, I was inclined to believe that Ranveer was a policeman in cahoots with Ajju's gang! But it turned out that he was never part of the force at all. It was quite hard for me to suspend my disbelief! Is it so easy to fool the CBI? This twist undermined the film IMO, which was otherwise crisply told (except for the love-track, that is)!

I think they tried to show that back then people in uniform had that power to convince anyone and anything. But yes I think they should have shown Jimmy to be a part of police but being disgusted when questioned by authority and hence choosing Akshay and gang's side. Love story was such a waste👎🏼

I hadnt read any reviews so I thought Ajju will be caught or will manage to escape after reaching the location of the heist. Even after Ranveer got into the jeep with Shanti and changed his clothes I was dumbfounded how come he changed sides since he seemed like an earnest man. I never thought he wasnt a policeman till the end because of the fake suspension drama. It was only after the credits started rolling I saw the name ACP(Fake) did I realize that the suspension drama and the ACP wre both fake.

Yep...in today's times CBI raids like this one wouldnt have been possible as the rich and the famous are informed of the raids in advance.

All in all the best Akshay film since Singh is King

Sadly he thought he might get Kahaani, pst, Barfi . Or VD type box office and win best actor . But sadly only above average or semi hit at best .

Then Again Ranbir won all award for rockstar and that wasnt even clean hit 😕

I like this film tho
