Three letter word, one painful meaning. No words can express the anguish he felt when she told him. Remembering the pain he saw written all over her, he wanted to cry. He never knew a woman could cause him this much pain. A woman who is so dear to heart.
Cancer, he thought again. How is that possible? It is still impossible to understand how someone so young and full of life can be going through so much pain. From her beautiful face and the cold way she held her body to the dark shadow in her eyes, it was so obvious to see the pain that she was busy hiding from everyone, but him. Yes, she can hide it from everyone, but not from him. Never him.
She needed him, he knew and he also knew that he will be there every step of the way when she does.
Face it Viraat, he thought now. You are in love with her and always have been. Always will be.
Tell her you love her, don't deny it. Isn't that's the reason why you drove all the way from Chandigarh to Hrishikesh?
The storm outside raged violently against the windows and brought him out of his reverie. Viraat found himself standing outside Manvi's door. It was late at night, in the wee small hours and he knew everyone was fast asleep by now. He couldn't sleep. He wanted to ' needed to see her. He gently knocked on the door. "Manvi?" he whispered. No answer. Sighing, he pushed the door slightly and saw her sleeping peacefully on the bed. Manvi stirred as he walked in. She looked so beautiful, he thought. He always wondered, what would she look like in his bed, her body bathed in the pale moonlight. Now, he knew. She has lost weight, he noticed. She was looking extremely pale and had dark circles under her eyes. She was looking a little blue around lips too. His eyes fastened on the beloved face. He cannot let anything happen to her, he thought furiously. She is the only thing that mattered to him and he was greedy enough not to part away from the most precious thing in his life. Manvi.
"Hi." That voice - husky and sensual, called out to him. Once again, he was awoken from his absent-mindedness. He looked at Manvi only to find her looking quietly at him. "You were staring."
"That's because you've never looked more beautiful," he replied easily. Manvi lay against the soft sheets of her bed, watching him as he gazed at her. The only sounds were beating of their hearts and the rustle of bedcover as she moved to sit up.
"And you're full of shit." She cocked her head to the side, looking at him. "You look pathetic."
But Manvi did not feel like smiling. He looked tired and worn out, she thought. With his unkempt hair and two days beard. There were no words to explain how much she missed him. For a moment, she couldn't believe her eyes - he was right in front of her. It was too good to be true. "When did you come from Chandigarh?"
"Couple of hours ago."
"Biji-"
"Sleeping."
Suddenly, she couldn't meet his eyes. Her heart was pounding. "How's Jeevika Di? Jeeju?"
"They are coming to meet you soon," he said quietly. Manvi nodded.
"Why didn't you tell me sooner?," Viraat asked abruptly furious. "I understand you had to hide it from Jeevika Bhabhi, but ' me? Don't I mean anything to you? I would have been there for you. I care about you, Manvi. Goddamit, I -"
"Viraat," Manvi interrupted. "Not now, please," she whispered. "Viraat ' I'm dying."
"I know. Me too."
He gently brushed her hair away from her eyes. "You sure? You want this?" Manvi nodded.
Viraat smiled and gently laid her down. She unbuttoned his shirt, as he caressed & touched her body with his hands and mouth. Manvi moaned. She trembled as his fingers moved behind her back and unzipped her shirt and pulled it off. Viraat bit her earlobe, then moved down slowly kissing her neck and shoulder which made her gasped, surprised by the shock of his touch. He stopped with his kisses and looked at her "You're beautiful." He then took off his own shirt, bent down, and kissed her again and again. She tasted like honey, smelled like vanilla and he couldn't get enough of her. Manvi welcomed his kisses with open arms. She will never be kissed like this again, she thought. She sighed breaking the kiss. Manvi suddenly realized they were both were fully unclothed now. "How did you -"
"Touch me, Manvi," he moaned against her body. Her hands roamed all over his body, over the smooth steel of his back, his hips, thighs. Reveling in the feel of his body over hers. She gasped and stirred as thousand fires lit as he continued to pleasure her body with his hands and mouth. She nibbled softly on his right ear. Her lips trailed down his neck, sending shivers up his spine. Her hand stroked his flat stomach and then moved lowered. Virat moaned with passion ignited by her innocent exploration of his body. Her heart was racing, thundering. She raised her mouth to his and bit softly. "Love me," she said.
He waited no longer and lowered his body into hers. He was reared over her, fused within her, and she gloried in it. Much later, he lowered himself to her, resting his exhausted weight upon her. After a while, he pulled away, curving her body against his and holding her, merely holding her. "Tonight, I just want to hold you," he whispered in her ear. Her eyes filled up with tears. "I don't want to loose you, Viraat. I wouldn't be able to bear it."
He smiled, while stroking her beautiful hair, even though his heart broke at the thought of her loosing them soon. "I love you, Manvi. Nothing can come between us. Not even your condition. You trust me?"
"More than anything."
"Good," he kissed her forehead. "Now, go to sleep."
She nodded. Lying still, she listened to the beat of his heart. Reveling in the feel of his skin against hers, trusting him, she was fast asleep.
