Worrisome Life
Fiza and Armaan on a stroll'.
Armaan felt the increase in pressure on his hand as Fiza's grip tightened a bit. He felt another wave of guilt for putting her through mental strain. The girl already had her finals to think of. But keeping the news of the impending danger her friends were about to face would have ended in disaster. She had the right to know.
"They will make it out alive right, Sur, Nidha, Nikki and the rest?" Fiza asked with wide concerned eyes.
"I won't sugar coat my words darling'.the world beyond Bogus Mirror isn't a fairytale land. Our only knowledge about the world is that which we get from the ancient scriptures. What reality holds for us only time will tell" Armaan laid out the truth.
Fiza forhead further creased with worry. Armaan placed a gentle kiss on it to ease it down.
"Don't worry'.lets hope for the best'.if I go in"
"You said you weren't going!" Alarm coursed through Fiza.
"Actually I have been thinking about it. I am not sure Abhay will let me go in. I don't want him to go because his marriage is just a few months old. He wants me here so that we can protect the sceptre , I think he is better suited than me to do that, he is older you know. Mom and Dad can't be allowed to go in, we both don't want them in danger"
"I don't want you in danger" Fiza blurted out tears filming her eyes.
"Hey! Relax, for all we know this might turn out to be a smooth ride and besides we still haven't got two necessary ingredients - an immortal and a doppelganger'..so you are going to be stuck with me for a while more madam" Armaan said with a smile.
"I want to be stuck with you for the rest of my life Armaan not just a while more and Aysha will concur with me on this" Fiza said.
"But you can't deny that what we are going to do is for the greater good of the humanity" Armaan reminded.
Fiza sighed he was right. This was no time for her histrionics. They all needed to support each other. Sur knew about the task ahead of her while Nidha was still in dark. In her opinion, the girls were too young to be facing any of this. Aysha's and Abhay's marriage was just months old and now the sword of separation hung above their head. Nikki was a dear friend and so were Abhay and Jeh.
She sighed. Damn! Who ever said to take life easily should go to hell!
"You said you were just short of two participants . Vampire is you or Abhay, witch is Nikki, werewolf is Jeh and Nidha his soul mate. This leaves immortal, doppelganger and hybrid" Fiza quizzed.
"Oh we do have a hybrid" Armaan said "You know him - Arnav"
"ARNAV!" Fiza shouted "I though he was human"
"Turns out he is not'.he is hybrid - half vampire - half warlock" Armaan explained.
"Great now another of my friends head is in the line" Fiza closed her eyes with her hand.
"Relax Fiz, he is a powerful hybrid'besides we are not sure we will be able to rope him in. Apparently, he has severed all his relation with our world long ago" Armaan said with an irritated edge to his voice.
He was bothered with the fact that they had another road block in their path - that of convincing Arnav. He had never really liked that Arnav was once a suitor for Fiza and now her concern for him was causing him to be irritated.
The ring tone of his cell phone broke into his thoughts.
"Rose'.who?'.uh okay I will be there in an hour" he said to his PA.
"I am sorry jaan'business calls" he said placing a kiss on his beloveds cheek.
"We can always hope for the best right?" Fiza asked
"We should" Armaan assured.
Mount College''
"You didn't consider it necessary to tell me that you feel depressed?" Nidha asked with raised eyebrow.
"Come on Nidhs'even you were hiding from me'.besides I didn't want to worry you what with exams just around and I had no idea why I am depressed" Sur said with a glum face.
Nidha slumped against her car.
"You are right Sur. But you very well know the reason behind my depression" she gave Sur a you know who look.
"I know it's no use telling you to get over it, but Nidhs we are big girls and right now we have bigger problems coming our way, we need to keep aside all our disagreements" Sur said wisely.
"Disagreement is a small word Sur. But you are right and don't worry I am not about to desert my friends for some one who entered my life just yesterday" Nidha assured "I will make sure that you make it through"
Sur hugged her friend. Gosh! She needed all the support she could get what with her on the edge emotions. She still shivered when she thought of the images she saw in mirror of both Raghav and Virat or is it Virain? The explanation about her plight angered her. She had no say in the matter. She was an heir and a key and unless she was put to use she would die of depression. What the heck!
"So Sur, what's your idea about a small trip to shake a little of that depression away?" Nidha asked.
"Trip? Where to?"
"You know my Aunt works with an NGO right. They run an orphanage and tomorrow they are taking the older kids there to visit a historical Palace. I had volunteered to accompany them , you can join us if you wish" Nidha explained.
"Let me see Nidhs, I have to get to my books as well. Haven't seen them since long" Sur said heading towards her car.
"Give me a call if you change your mind" Nidha said.
New Delhi'.
Raghav looked around at the stylish reception area. He was impressed with the classy arrangement. Reflected the standard yet glamorous taste of it's owner.
"Mr. Raghav, you may go in" the young receptionist smiled at him. He returned the gesture.
Raghav entered the office that looked more like a glass cage. His eyes landed on the man whose back was turned to him. Emotions welled up in him which he stymied. Emotions would never work with the being in front of him. After all he was Raghav's
"What brings you here my dear father?" Arnav asked with an edge to his voice.
Forests of Dehradhoon'.
"Thank you Rodriguez, this was a great help and now you will forget that you ever met me" Tirtha bore her gaze into the young vampires eyes.
The young ones were always the easiest to compel and off course she had the special gift of being able to compel vampires. Aldar was never in short supply of vampires. She had needed one to know each step of how her sister planned to get hold of the sceptre. This particular vampire was very proficient in eavesdropping.
Tirtha had just turned around when she felt a stake piercing her heart. She stumbled for a second a turned to face her attacker.
"Really now?" she said with raised eyebrows. Rodriguez looked confused
With a swift motion she removed the stake embedded in her heart and passed it through Rodriguez. She watched the young vampires body desiccating with a twinge of regret.
"I believe you got your answer Aldar" she said softly into the night air.
Fiza's home'.
Mr. Sharma smiled gladly at the small group of people around him. He was celebrating a quiet birthday with his family. Fiza had prepared his favourite cake while his son had for once listened to him and gotten rid of his ridiculous long hair. His wife lovingly gave him a peck on the cheek and a small gift box containing his favourite perfume.
After feeding Fiza a bit of cake he asked.
"So what does my Princess want?"
"Papa it's your birthday, you are the one who gets gifts" Fiza reminded.
"I know that sweety, but iss saal thoda different karthe hain'how about I give you a gift" Mr. Sharma said.
Fiza and Karan looked confused while her mother smiled.
"Beta!" Mr. Sharma called towards a room on the ground floor.
Armaan stepped out of the room with a smile. He was holding a small box in his hand. Fiza gave her father a surprised look and then turned to look back at her love. She could see the tightness in his smile. Something wasn't right.
Armaan knelt down before Fiza and pulled out a ring from the box. A beautiful sapphire studded silver ring.
"Fiza Sharma, I have a humble request to make, will you accept this simpleton's hand in marriage" he asked in style.
Fiza's lips opened in a surprised oh! She closed it with her hands and held her tears in check.
"Papa" she hugged her Dad out of emotion.
"There now Princess, you should relieve the poor guy on the floor" her father said patting her while he controlled his own tears.
Armaan had proven himself. . But otherwise, the back ground check Mr. Sharma had conducted on him had come clean. He was a respected businessman and a good son. He had kept his distance from Fiza though Mr. Sharma had a doubt that they had sneak meetings. After all they were youngsters in love. More than anything, he was proud that his daughter was ready to wait for as long as it requires her father to decide. She wanted her parents to be happy as well.
"Hmmm Mr. Malik, this is a very tough decision" Fiza acted up.
"No problem, I am sure I can find another girl even if you deny me" Armaan wasn't one to be left behind.
"Well then I am planning to make you suffer, my answer is yes" Fiza said with a bright smile.
Armaan slipped the ring on her finger and stood up with her hand in his. Fiza could see the love in his eyes. But the worry in them wasn't missed by her.
