Article: Nandini hates Men

Armed with hatred for men in general and love for her family, Nandini, a spunky, cute Punjabi kudi recently arrived in Amritsar, in STAR One's prime time show Geet 'Hui Sabse Parayi. Thrilled to be a part of the show, Nandini aka Melanie Pais talks about her brother Tej, her family, Geet and lots more in this chat. Read on'

Tell us something about your character, Nandini?
I am typical, straightforward Punjabi girl, a la Geet in Jab We Met. Nandini is a fun-loving girl, who loves three people in her life the most ' her Beeji and her brothers, Tej and Lucky. On the other hand, she hates all men.

What do you like most about Nandini?
I love that she loves to live life and takes on anything challenging. She appreciates honesty in people. She is very close to her family.

How did it feel to meet your cousin Geet? What do like about her?
It was nice to see her after so many years. I liked the fact that she fought for her rights and justice. Now, I am trying to help her get over the trauma she experienced.

How are you in real life?
I am just like Nandini, but the one thing which is not similar is that Nandini hates men and I don't. I also love attention from my family, like she does.

What's your take on the fight between Geet and Maan?
I don't know why the two of them got into a fight in the first place. But knowing that Maan hurt Geet, I am not looking forward to hearing, talking or meeting Maan. I don't like Maan at all. I just want Geet to forget Maan.

Which is your favourite character from Geet? Why?
I love Tej, Lucky, Pammi, and my Beeji - basically my entire family. All the characters in my family are close to my heart. Our family is completely different from other families.

How is your rapport with your brother Tej?
I respect him a lot, as he is a father figure to me. He thinks of me as a little kid. I love that I have a loving and protective brother like Tej.

What do you like most about the show?
I like the whole set-up of the show, which is very different from other shows. Here, every character is given importance and all actors are very talented.

How is it working with your co-stars in Geet ' Hui Sabse Parayi?
It's cool to be a part of such successful show. I joined the cast just a week ago, and already, I feel like a part of the unit. I am acquainted with Gurmeet and Sameer. It is fun to work with such known faces on television. Even the production house is wonderful.

What kind of relationship do you share with your real-life siblings?
I have two sisters, and I share an excellent bond with both, though I am closer to my younger sister. Having a loving and caring family makes a lot of difference in life.

In the show, you love to read. Are you an avid reader in real life too?
Not at all. I read books only in school.
