I find it a bit strange that you are more concerned about this than about Amma inflicting physical harm and permanent injury on someone Reasonable means are for reasonable people, which Amma is not. When you cross a certain limit, you cease to become an elder and only remain a wicked, vile person. How many times could Shastriji speak to her in a reasonable tone, in a private setting, to no avail? He has done this before. It has had no effect. If someone, anyone, tried to do that to my child, they would see the worst of me. Shastriji's main duties are towards his daughter, not his evil mother.

Shastriji is speaking up too little too late, in my humble opinion. Because he reveres his mother, too much injustice has already happened in Radhika's life. It is really high time Amma was called out for her behaviour, which is wholly unworthy of an elder who feels she should be respected for having more life experience than others.

I can even grant that Amma believes in caste barriers. So many older people are not fans of intercaste marriage, so Amma is no different. I can understand her horror at Radhika being raised by her son, since Rads is a child of unknown origins. As the elder, she was given no say in the matter as to a foundling being brought into her own home. That is unusual for the time and place, I can concede that.

But the malice in Amma is so vitriolic that she has lost the respect of her son. It is Amma's own fault that it's come to this. My own grandmother was not so different from Amma--an indifferent education cut short by a too-early marriage, frustrating circumstances brought about by financial conditions, no real power in a male-dominated society, so using loud voice and emotional blackmail to gain advantages. All so familiar to me. But when someone starts plotting to destroy another person's happiness, there is just no more concession or empathy from me.

Mahika.

hey guys forget amma's public insult..i think she should be hanged or burned publically...she is so evil and strongly opinionated that even while hanging or burning she would be saying thakurji meri poti hi PB ki CB hai..meri poti ....woh kalmuhi radhika ko mat chodiyo thakurji....

Hey i know i sound crazy..however people like amma should have painful end... thankfully i have never come across any person like that in my life...i agree kids shoudl not insult their parents publically or even in private....but if parents go to this extreme extent ..i guess its not wrong either...

i agree. No one should insult their mother in public or for that matter no one should insult anyone publicly or privately. But sadly, it does happen in real life and in this reel life, it did happen from a very upright and respectable person.
But i can understand Shastriji's anger. What Ammaji did was inexcusable - and despite the public condemnation, she remained unapologetic and unremorseful. Never did it occur to Ammaji that what happened was retribution. That is the evilness of Amma.
But we must also not forget that Shastriji did ask Kanha for forgiveness for what he did. He did something that was bad and he recognised his mistake and seeking forgiveness. I think that sets a good example to the younger generation.
I think we should give greater credit to our younger generation to have some brains and not to accept everything that happens in the movies as correct. If a person has the right mentality (that is good mentality) the person would question the rightness or wrongness of an action. If a person is basically a bad person then no matter how good an action is portrayed, they would just laugh it off and say that is so stupid - haven't you heard people comment that way?
I think it is good for movies/ tv series to portray all aspects and for the younter generation to question such actions. If a child is too young to understand than you as the senior member should use that as an example to point out what is right and what is wrong. That is what you as an adult is there for, for the younger generation.

OH my God, Oh my God, People are so upset with Amma. Wow. May be because I did not watch this serial regularly (I found it was dragging, my nerve could not take it anymore), I did not realize that amma is THAT BAD. NOW with comments after comments of burning her alive, I can feel that may be Shastri ji did well. But I am like Radhika, still trying to respect the tradition and culture.
