I am not saying it is Aishwarya’s fault that people talk more about her Cannes appearances (which is thanks to her planned PR machinery because Cannes is the only thing keeping her relevant since 2011).

I am saying that she takes credit for other people’s achievements. She says she is the first Indian actress to crossover from Bollywood to Hollywood, which is a lie because another Indian beauty pageant winner did it before Aishwarya was born.

Indian supermodel Persis Khambatta was crowned Miss India 1965 and represented India at Miss Universe 1965. She is the first Indian woman to become an ambassador for international beauty brands as she was signed by Revlon Cosmetics in 1965.

Persis is also the first Indian woman to make a mark in Hollywood. She acted in various Hollywood movies. Her most famous Hollywood role is Lieutenant Ilia in Star Trek (1979).

She is also the first Indian to present at the Academy Awards (Oscars) in Los Angeles in 1980.
