Kiran gets married to Aarti. Since she couldn't conceive mahaan Tulsi decides to give Gautam to them. Both of them later leave Shanti Niketan secretly and settle abroad. But, she doesn't take care of Gautam and hence doesn't get good values. Later on he comes to India wherein he comes to know the truth as to why Mihir and Tulsi decided to give him to Kiran and Arthi. Later on Mandira changes herself through plastic surgery and enters Shanti Niketan and marries Kiran. In a way Kiran's life wasn't a happy one with regard to his wives.

What happened to his marriage in S1?

Aarti Kiran got married and she was the ONLY bahu that was actually approved by the Saas. All the 3 DILs of Baa had issues with their respective bahus. Savita disapproved Tulsi, Daksha was also not happy about Chirag and Prajakta as Prajakta was from a Marathi family and Daksha wanted a Gujarati bahu, Gayatri didn’t like Pooja initially because she wasn’t from a wealthy family and later because Hemant would marry her despite her being a widow.

Aarti was ironically considered the only good catch amongst the bahus. Eventually she finds out that she is unable to get pregnant and is depressed, she is so attached to Gautam that Tulsi and Mihir are persuaded to let Aarti and Kiran formally adopt Gautam. Mihir is absolutely livid at the very thought but then eventually comes around as he thinks his son will be in front of him and Tulsi was already pregnant with Shobha at the time or had delivered her already.

Then one fine day the Viranis are shocked to see Kiran, Aarti and Gautam gone. They disappear as Aarti doesn’t want to share Gautam with Tulsi and Mihir, she didn’t want to be around them as she felt that if they stayed with the Viranis then regardless of the legal status, they will never be able to become Gautam’s parents truly.

The Viranis are unable to locate any of them and since Kiran and Aarti were legally Gautam’s parents they couldn’t lodge a police complaint against them for kidnapping either because legally they had given up their claims and rights as parents.

Post leap we discover that the couple and Gautam had shifted to Australia and after a few years had a miracle child, a daughter named Karisma. But by then their marriage was irrevocably damaged and broken. It’s implied that Gautam and Karisma were both very severely traumatised by watching their parents fighting constantly and then having to live through their divorce. They split the custody of their children and were practically pathetic parents to them even after the divorce.

Aarti tried to reconcile with both the kids but once Gautam got to Shanti Niketan and so did Karisma they both were happy to stay with the Viranis than Aarti.
