I have read PS in Tamil when I was in college ie., 2009. Like u said the novel is one of the best historical fiction in Tamil. All characters were real like Vandiya Thevan, karikalan, kundavai and raja raja chozhan except Nandhini.

I liked the movie. Some of them told it’s not like Bahubali. But PS is not about visuals. They went real places and shooted the scenes. My hubby didn’t understand bcoz he didn’t read the novel. For non reader it’s little bit difficult to grasp what’s happening. My daughter also couldn’t understand bcoz of the language. The characters were speaking old Tamil. Overall as a fan of PS, I liked the movie very much. A r Rahman background score and songs were extraordinary. The climax was terrific. Most of the story going to reveal in the second part.

Hey Aps, I saw the movie in Telugu a few weeks ago. I reached the theatre late and missed the starting 10/15 min, so most of the first half flew over my head😆 A friend had to explain the plot and characters from a poster during the intermission. After that, I could understand the second half much better. But to my surprise we were not the only ones huddling around the poster

Telugu translation was a bit difficult for me to follow. At times I was asking people if it's definitely Telugu😆 But I loved the cinematography and the actors. I liked Kundavai and Nandini; and Of course, Vandhiyadevan and PS. Many of us were excited to see Prakash Raj and Vikram on screen😆

I found the plot interesting and by the end of the movie curious enough to read the books. I just started off with the first book😃

I saw it in tamil. Anyway my daughter is studying about Chola dynasty and Rashtrakudas😆 So the film starts with a war cholas defeating Rashtrakudas . She was very happy . And my son was disinterested Since it was not his mother tongue nor in english 😆 . For me I love history then there is cinematography costumes 😆good actors ,story, good fight sequences that is necessary. I like fight seq more than romance 🤣 PS1 is poora paisa wasool . Good theatre experience😎

If I see it in Malayalam the lip sync will be weird and also they will kill Malayalam language in many ways 😆

But have gone through its story & Historical chapter of Cholas

Yes. In book they will reveal who is Nandhini and what is the connection between her and cholas. I won’t give u spoiler. Better read the book or wait for 2nd part.
