This is the only drama Iām watching. Donāt normally like dramas like this but Iām actually enjoying it as Iām a sucker for a Cinderella story.
Regarding the violence, I personally think it depends on the context. In this show itās clearly being shown that the characters engaging in violent abuse are āevilā. The violence is being depicted as a negative act which Hamza and Dadi are vehemently apposing.
For me whatās problematic is when men slap their wives or parents slap their daughter and itās justified because she was āacting outā. That happens a lot in dramas. Or when women silently endure emotional or verbal abuse from their husband because theyāre āgood girlsā - thatās happening in Yeh Na Thi Hamari Qismat. Or when husbands are abusive, then after beating the crap out of their wives suddenly āchangeā and the wife happily forgives him - like in Band Khirkiyan.
In this drama Hala is silently enduring abuse from her family but Hamza is speaking out and from the promos it looks like heās going to encourage her to speak up for herself. So they are actually showing silently enduring physical or verbal abuse is NOT a virtue. Which is a good thing.
