🏏India vs South Africa 3rd Test 🏏: Cape Town - Page 41

Virat Kohli: It's a great spectacle of Tests for everyone to watch; hard-fought series. Great first game but SA did amazingly well. In both Tests they won, they were clinical with the ball in crunch moments. Lapse of concentration cost us key moments and they seized those moments; absolutely deserving winners in the end. As I said, one of the challenges we've faced touring abroad is make sure capitalising on momentum, when we've done that we've won Tests away from home. When we haven't, they've cost us quite bad. Have had a few collapses that have cost us important moments and Test matches. It's batting; can't pin-point any other aspect. People talk about pace and bounce, considering their heights, they were able to get much more off the wickets in all three Tests. They applied pressure long enough for us to make mistakes. It's the understanding of conditions for them which they know very well. The batting has to be looked into, no running away from that. Having collapses every now and then not a good thing. Obviously very disappointed, we know how far we've come as a team. That people expect us to beat SA in SA is testimony to how far we've come. We haven't done it, that's the reality, accept it and come back as better cricketers. Got to credit the opposition where due. I think the way KL batted as an opener was heartening, Mayank got stuck in on a couple of occasions, bowling was outstanding, few crucial knocks from the guys in the middle period, Rishabh's knock in this Test was special, Centurion win was special too. Take the positives and move ahead, come back as better cricketers.

Keegan Petersen is the Player of the Match & Player of the series.

There's a three-match ODI series to come, with the opening game on January 19 in Paarl

Not only the individual players but also BCCI needs to realize the mistakes they made in this series and pay attention to improvise them.

India cannot have both Pujara and Rahane on board if either of them aren't delivering what they are expected of.One of them, atleast, has to be dropped. As a batting unit, the responsibility can't be just thrown on to both the openers.According to the situation they either have to be attacking or defensive, but agar sirf aake thode over khade hokar, out hi hona hai toh sorry, there's something wrong.

Also, the team can't solely depend on how Bumrah and Shami perform. They need to groom other bowlers too.

Hoping ,we get to celebrate the future fixtures ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ

A sublime 82 from Keegan Petersen and some gorgeous shots from Rassie van der Dussen and Temba Bavuma took South Africa to a seven wicket victory on Day 4 of the third Test between India and South Africa and series against India at Newlands Cricket Ground

The match is over within 4 days. India lost the 3rd test and series as well.

Lack of application from our batsmen let us down.

The day began with Petersen reaching his second half-century of the match with a brace on a thick edge going through third man. It also meant Petersen crossed fifty thrice in the series, including twice in the ongoing match. India pacers Mohammed Shami and Jasprit Bumrah asked many questions while biting the outer edges, but couldnโ€™t get a wicket early on.

Rassie van der Dussen pounced on everything with width and also survived a caught behind appeal off Shami as bat touched the ground while looking to drive. Petersen continued to impress with his off-side play and had a reprieve in 59 when Jasprit Bumrah found an outer edge with a peach of a delivery but Cheteshwar Pujara couldnโ€™t hold onto the catch at the first slip. Van der Dussen clipped Umesh Yadav through mid-wicket while Petersen took two more boundaries through the off-side off Shami and Bumrah. The 54-run partnership was broken by Shardul Thakur, who got Petersen to chop on to his stumps and fall 18 runs short of his maiden Test hundred. Eventually, Bavuma along with Van der Dussen took the side to victory as the runs never stopped coming. India needs to introspect on their batting which has let  them down in the series.
