Hello everyone, my name is Anam and I enjoy reading and hence decided to start a book club. I've been toying with the idea of a book club for a while now but often wondered if anyone would be interested in being part of it, considering that there are several book clubs already. A big thank you to the five members who showed an interest in the idea of a book club and encouraged me to start one.

One of main reasons to start a book club is to read varied genres which unfortunately I haven't been very good at doing. I'm assuming it is the same with some others here as well; we are very comfortable in sticking to the genres we have always been reading. Hopefully this book club will change that for us without making us go way out of our comfort zones; because at the end of the day we have to enjoy what we are reading, which is always the main reason to read.

  1. The book club will start from the 1st of August and will be on a monthly basis.
  2. To avoid confusion, the book club picks will be decided by me (based on your suggestions, Goodreads lists, must read lists, bestseller lists, etc.) and will be announced here a day before the end of the month so that you can get a copy of the book.
  3. Those who don't have a physical copy of the book, an ebook link will be put up the first of the month so that there are no issues on that front.
  4. If at any point, more than 3 members have read the book chosen for the month, a new book will be picked out.
  5. Discussions will happen at the end of the month about what we liked and disliked about the book to enrich our reading experience. Discussions need not be lengthy or highly intellectual, a couple of lines  on what we liked and disliked will also suffice. Everyone is encouraged to be a part of the discussion so that we get different viewpoints.
  6. Feel free to join in and become a member at any point. There is no compulsion to read every month's book club pick. Do let me know in advance if you are going to be a part or will be opting out a particular month.

Hope many of you join in and we have a good time reading πŸ˜Š

P.S. Keep the discussions clean and avoid judgement on differing opinions. Please feel free to send in a PM if you are unhappy or have queries about something.

Congratulations to all of us! πŸ₯³ I am so excited to be a part of this book club and the post looks wonderful. Thank you so much for taking the initiative, Anam! πŸ˜ƒ

I hope we all find new favourites. I mostly read Fantasy, Romance and Mystery/Thriller. Also, does the book club have a limited age range while choosing books? Can it be any middle grade, YA or Adult? I do not mind but I am just curious so that I can keep that in mind while suggesting the books.

Also, have we all decided on a name for the book club? Since the book club is not concentrating on a specific genre, there are a lot of names we can choose from. I am picking these from random articles on Book Club Names.

Up All Night, Literal TrashThe Matilda Wormwood Appreciation Society (I love Matilda so I am just suggesting it for myself πŸ˜†), Fantastic Books and Where to Find Them ( A Harry Potter one, can't help myself), Next Chapter all sounds good. Let's see if any others have different names to suggest!

My name is Shreya, by the way. βοΈ

Yay...first official member!! πŸ₯³Welcome Shreya πŸ€—

As for the age range, we will keep it as YA and Adult because I'm assuming they will have most takers.

I love all the book club names you suggested especially Literal Trash, the HP one and Next Chapter. Let more members join in and we can have some more suggestions and then some sort of poll.

Hey Anam πŸ€—

Loving the thread! I’m definitely in. I am so stuck in one genre reading (Romance)that this will be so helpful in venturing out different genres.

Hello again. I think we can concentrate on single genre every month and we can start with Contemporary and the next month Mystery/Thriller and so on. Also, we can have a poll on the book club names or just simply decide as we are just a few right now.

As @GrimReaper suggested, I would love to read any Fredrick Backman's works or the newest Elizabeth Acevedo's Clap When You Land. I honestly don't read much in this genre so any pick is fine with me. πŸ˜ƒ
