Meher,
I am no expert, but I think in theory, 'no'. I would also think that one would have to be a vegetarian.
Chapter 14 of BG talks about the 3 modes of nature.
Satva Guna- Mode of goodness
Rajas Guna- Mode of passion
Tamsik Guna- Mode of ignorance
To understand or realize the true 'Brahma' one has to transcend even the satva guna.
When one drinks alcohol, u r pretty much gratifying ur sense organs , there is no purpose to ur work. U r in a mode of ignorance.
Ignorance is equivalent to darkness and can only create illusion.
Knowledge brings illumination and will arise from the mode of goodness.
Greed arises from the mode of passion.
The Janeu is symbolic of such knowledge of true 'Brahman'.
In day to day life , It is upto the individual what their goal is!
Again I would not see from a good vs bad angle say from a moral stand point.
Think u r in a lower grade of school and slowly rising higher. As u get educated, and start applying knowledge u will get wiser. Hopefully we will see that with Siddhant!
Did u notice in one episode Anushka eats non- vegetarian food when she is eating with Vedant. I thought that was so interesting. Again , my take is that it is their collective journey towards one goal!

Please note this is how I understand. BG is complicated!

Now here, Siddhant isn't morally incorrect. He thinks KK murdered PS and he's trying to bring him down. After he finds that KK is innocent, would he be wrong? No. Cause his actions were influenced by his thinking back then.
That's what Gita is about somewhere - Krishna acted according to situations (he also did chal kapat to uphold dharma. That doesn't make him morally incorrect cause that was need of the hour. Gita is about not sticking to age old traditions on the name of dharma but changing traditions to suit the current scenario)

Sorry Lavy if you didn't mean this but I felt you did 😆

Thank you so much for chipping in Mahi 😳 I wanted to convey the same actually.

I think a more accurate reference would be that the events of the Mahabharata highlight the concept of 'relative morality'. As Veda has rightly said in one of her comments, there was no active warfare involved during the recitation of the Gita. So 'Mahabharata' as a whole would be a more appropriate reference than BG.

Again, I only know a little bit of the Gita. It is such a profound collection and I only tit-bits about its verses. I know the Mahabharata and its events very well but don't know much about BG.

@Veda-I'm sorry if my point was wrong or I wrote something inaccurate. As I said, I'm a novice when it comes to BG.

Certainly, MB is a better reference cause it's war here. Gita can only guide him on tactics!😆
It's very unpredictable and unexpected now. Let's see!😆

Hey Lavanya, Please don't apologize! There is nothing wrong or right/ inaccurate. Please understand I am not an expert. I am a novice myself..Whatever I post with respect to BG please take it as my interpretation only. I was seeking clarification because I genuinely did not understand what u were trying to say! Nothing serious !

'No one who does good work will ever come to a bad end, either here or in the world to come... ' Gita

The meaning of Karma is in the intention. The intention behind action is what matters...' Gita

I would think Siddant's character is being portrayed with the above Gita quotes in mind. At present, all Sid thinks, breaths and lives is for vengeance of his father's death. He wants to create the same loneliness his mother faces in KK's life... He feels justified with his action...

Sometimes the things that hurt you the most, teach you the greatest lessons of life...' Gita

Now that Siddant feels the hurt of his mother and Anu based on his actions, I hope he reviews his actions and retrospect the actions he has taken...
